Story:

Baron von Schwein finds himselfs locked up in prison. They arrested him on the account of dabbling in the dark arts, little did they know, he dabbled in the darkest of arts.

Pigmancy.

Now he must use his powers to escape the prison, or be executed. Luckily for him, the guards had no idea what kind of dark art he used, so they left a convenient pig in his cell. He called this new companion Betty.

Controls:
  • Movement - Arrow keys
  • Jump - Up arrow, W
  • Q - Force Pull
  • E - Force Push

You can repeatedly jump from the pig by pressing or holding Up arrow. This can be used to "pig-surf" when close to a ceiling.

I'll be honest, I couldn't get passed the first level. The whole thing was so hard to control.

    • The way to control the pig feels unintuitive. I couldn't help but press D to make it move right, while it's just supposed to push. I think I would have withsed a secondary movement for the pig instead of pull and push. Especially when you can't climb back up and that you can't retrieve the pig because of walls.
    • Speaking of inuntuitive, I think your character is better off bouncing on the pig automatically. I didn't get at first that you were supposed to jump on them

Also Ivar's video is pretty nice!

I like the art, and animations. Wow is this tricky, and that's coming from someone who made a game where you bounce off your companion too. I'm glad you took the theme in such a different and successful way, and found a wonderfully challenging puzzler.

My thoughts? Mixed. (Hotel? Trivago.) At first I was stunned at the art and the innovation and the idea. As I played it, sure the game was stable, but it lacked polish. There were few sound effects and no music. There was no story or variety in the walls. Even the text in the top left had the default GMS2 font! I recommend watching Mark Brown's video on "Game feel" to learn more about how to make a game fun to play. https://youtu.be/216_5nu4aVQ

Seriously, that was what I was going to say. But I would also recommend you to add levels/checkpoints. Playing the same thing over and over gets quite boring after a while. But it's still the most enjoyable game I've played so far (in this jam).

I definitely agree with you, this kinda a game needs polish to add more feedback to the player. Ofcourse the reason is lack of time but it's also about priority when you only have two days. We won't try to create cool effects that we end up not using next time. :)

An excellent concept. The base principle is just amazing. The sound effects are correct but a bit boring since there's no music. I loved the graphics and the pig's inertnia. Great work !

I'm a terrible pigmancer...despite that though I kept trying to get just a little bit further in the level! It took a few minutes for me to wrap my head around the controls, but once I got them I had a lot of fun. the learning curve was steep but I think you have a pretty interesting mechanic! The art was also really solid!

It took us some time to realize that we made it possible to "pig-surf", once we had that function we had to redesign the map so that you had to pigsurf a lot. In the process the map turned out kinda hard. :P Thanks for the feedback.
