Welcome, brave adventurer!

We have been waiting for you to join us, over in the Elemental Dungeon! There are riches to be found, but you'll have to first activate all the totems that may be present in your randomly generated dungeon! Using the elements you have and your special movement ability, make ONE movement every five seconds (Elemental attacks/transformations do not count as a move, but you can't use one after moving!) , or be punished by the wrath of Katõrnüs! Having been punished a few times shall make you end up defeated!

  • The cards you can get for movement are: Twice horizontally or vertically, once horizontally or vertically, and once diagonally.
  • The cards you can get for ultimates/transformations are: Air, Fire, Water and Earth. THESE WORK HORIZONTALLY ONE SPACE LEFT AND RIGHT

Cards are location sensitive, they only act near the vicinity of your player. A mark will be highlighted if something is activated. Movement cards will just cancel if used afar, but elemental cards will DISCARD. So beware.

You CAN'T move onto pits, so plan your steps carefully! Also don't spam cards if there's no need to, might break things haha. :P DON'T press space in the game game, because that deletes the totem because I forgot a debug thing in. ;-;

Controls:

  • SPACE to start the game from the main menu.
  • Left click a card and hold, drag around to a highlighted spot and release to cast. (If you haven't cast a movement card yet.)

TESTIMONIALS:

  • "I am confused, is this japanese chess?" - Random person watching a stream of my game

Off-topic now: This was actually supposed to be a turn-based fighting game against the elementals, but due to running out of time and other troubles, it's now a simple, randomized puzzle-game. The algorithms aren't 100% hardened and sturdy, but should most of the time end up with a fairly okay result.

Nice graphics! I included it in my GM48: Colors are Important compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/vn9B8Izpgw4

Ooh, nice art and animation. The random draw card idea is interesting. Would like to have seen the full design you had planned for it! I understand how limiting 48hrs can be though :][

As it is though, the movement could be a bit frustrating at times. Would have been a nice feature to be able to end your turn before the timer ran out.

Looking forward to seeing more of your projects!

It was more confusing than enjoyable for me...

    • The music was ok, but after a few minutes it got repetitive very fast
    • The game mechanic was hard to grasp at the beginning
    • The timer was too small to really get what it was for
    • The Intro was funny though :)

The concept was cool, but I was just confused the whole time.
Sometimes the cards seemed to work, but sometimes they didn't, I then realized there was a timer that counted down then you could use a card. I think it would have worked better if you made some enemys and the player could do stuff without a time limit.

Interesting idea! I think the main issue is the lack of feedback and info (in game), as it would help to understand the confusing mechanic

    • We don't know when we are able to make a move or when we already did withing the 5 seconds time frame. Because of this, I didn't know I had to wait 5 seconds to make my movement. Also, It made me confused as to why my action was not registered. I thought it was the game bugging at first.
    • We're not sure what we're supposed to do with the tower. It took me a bit to figure out that we were just supposed to match our element! I thought first that I had to damage/kill them using an opposing element. For example, I thought I'd be able to beat fire with water. (though I would have known if I checked the thumbnail)
    • I'm still confused on how we lose life? From what I've gathered, we lose 1 HP when we don't make our move (as mentioned, knowing when we can make our move or already did would be mostly important because of that). But using an element attack does not count as a movement, hence not preventing us to take damage? Either way, it was confusing
    • Once, the room generated for me was an empty room. No tower, nothing. Was stuck until I decided to gently let myself die lol

PS: Ohhhh, towers are toteeeeems. Okay that makes sense. I thought they were enemies or something.

I like the concept of this as a game. The timer system got a little bit tedious, but with more cards to play and a 'deck' system of sorts, this could turn into an interesting full game. Add some variety to the options per turn and you've got a winner. Just add more diversity to the strat each turn rather than waiting until the card you need appears and selecting it. Audio was fitting, But hearing the title every time you die was a bit much It was hard to select squares underneath the cards. Having to wait, essentially for nothing but to take another term, feels a bit pointless. If the opponents were acting during this window in more turn-based fashion, I could understand it. Nice art style overall and a great idea, but the gameplay could be a bit more engaging.

Low key though, it was actually supposed to be a turn-based battling game with enemies, but a bit over half-way through I opted for a simple puzzler due to what I assumed was going to be a lack of time. (Which still happened evidently from the really shoddily implemented timer system in the end.) I can see where the annoyance from the title being said could come and I take full responsibility for it! x

Cheers for the feedback! < 3

I think the idea behind this game was pretty cool and making it randomly generated was what it needed to not be boring, the problem is that the gameplay is kinda hard to understand, so a tutorial would've helped.

Sometimes the click to drag functionality does not work all the time And sometimes I have to do it a few times for it to actually work (Maybe its just me though)

The art looks nice though, Solid effort on the game <3

Yeah, have to agree that no feedback in regards to not being able to move is a pretty big negative, should've disabled drawing indicators when movement is canceled. And the 5 second timer has been deemed a bit boring and annoying, so I'll have to take that as a fact as well, haha. :P

After playing the game for a solid 20 minutes, I have to say it was a real success for the developer. I think the simplistic nature of the classic puzzle design combined with entertaining gameplay creates a game that I genuinely enjoyed. The randomized format provides an everchanging puzzle for the player, and continues to add enjoyment to the game. Overall, I would fully suggest "Elemental Dungeon" as it captures the vibe and feel of classic puzzle genre games while still continuing to provide a fresh and delightful experience. Keep up the great work!

I found the 5 second timer mechanic to be a bit confusing because it makes your cards stop working but doesn't clearly show you. The timer also makes moving around the board slower than it should be. Still, the game was pretty fun and the animations were enjoyable to watch!

Definitely, have to agree with the unclear feedback in regards to your cards being blocked. I was actually scouring to add the final touches (lives, timer, etc) in 15 minutes before the end, so I was slowly panicking to say the least. The timer was supposed to add some kind of gating mechanic as well as make you panic a bit, but obviously wasn't executed in the best way possible. Thanks for playing! < 3
