Earth is approaching its final days. Water is scarce, and the tribal remains of humanity have only one hope: to use ancient technology left behind thousands of years ago, and travel to the rumored Temple of Rain. A sacrifice is to be made, which one is up to you.

Travel across the desert, and chose to keep your fellow tribesmen alive, or let them die of dehydration. Carefully manage the water on board, as well as the power, and get to the Temple. Watch out for harmful beams of sunlight, as they will make the tribesmen dehydrate faster! The beams can be blocked by heat shields, at the cost of power however. 3 Possible endings (Visual differences only).

A/D Move left right. E to activate. F to kill. 1,2,3 to activate/deactivate heat shields.

Did not have a lot of time to balance the game, but hopefully it's enjoyable!

I played through the game blind and didn't even realize their were shields, I ended the game with a single follower at 1 water. I checked the site for more info and I decided to give it another go now knowing shields were a thing. I only used shields on that run and kept everyone alive without a problem. Cool idea, it would have been exceptional if you had time to balance it. I really liked the art aesthetic.

Thanks for playing and the feedback! (and for giving it a second chance! :D ) The balancing is definitely a flaw in this game, and something I WISH I had had time to get right haha.

Wow, I really liked the ambience of this game! This omninous and tribal world looks really cool, you claim you're not a good artist, but I loved the art and the sounds too, you did an awesome artistic job.

As for the gameplay, I digged the mechanics and the strategy the game puts on you. I didn't need to sacrifice anyone though, as as the other reviewers said, this game needs more balance to make it more challenging.

But this game is really fun, I got the good ending: when it rains on their world at night (or I think this is the good ending). Awesome job!

Thanks for playing the game, and the kind words! I plan to add more visual effects to the game to improve the ambiance , stuff like lighting and better rain and clouds in the last scene, maybe some dust winds through the desert too - I feel like it would do a lot for the game. Yup, definitely, the balancing is what really brings this down sadly :(

Lovely game. I like the artstyle and the world of the game. I'm not really sure what I choose at the end, it was kinda random, but I got some raining screen so it seems good.

At first I restarted the game by accident, then a killed 4 of the 6 dudes, but that didn't really change much. I guess you get less upgrades points ?

Anyway for 48h it's a good entry, but I would have loved some balancing / different mechanics.

Thanks! The world building was really something I was trying to go for in this game, with more of a show don't tell approach, but unfortunately I'm not the best artists haha. Yea, the ending and the choices could be made a lot clearer! And agreed, the game really needs to be rebalanced in order for the player to feel more engaged and to make the choices the player makes really have a difference. Yup the upgrade points given are the number of tribesmen you have kept alive.

Not gonna lie, this really intrigued me but the first time I booted the game I had no idea what to do. Just figured it out tho, and this is pretty good! You can tell a lot of work went into it, esp with gameplay and art stylization. Kudos to you!

Thanks! Yeah I was trying to aim for a game which attempts to explain itself without much text or dialogue or anything. So I'm glad you figured it out and had a good time :)

Really interesting game! I included it in my GM48: Sacrifice compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/GLJFbs0fnfE

Thanks for including it! Sorry for not making it clear that you had to click the advance buttons haha :S Shame you didn't get to the end, but completely understandable, the game is too long (and slightly boring) in its current state! Either way, thank you :)

Now it rains! ...not that it was hard though. That gotta be the biggest issue, I managed to keep everyone without sacrificing them at all and didn't have much to think about. Though it was close (5% energy remaining) but yeah, perhaps their energy could be drained faster or something.

    Aside that, pretty uniqur gameplay!

I love the visual style and atmosphere of this game! Though the graphics aren't super polished they do a good job of conveying some sort of foreign tribe in the desert. I didn't fully understand what everything was supposed to mean but I think that adds to the feel. Some of the sound effects are a bit shrill, but I really like the ambience in the background.

The gameplay is certainly unique, if not terribly exciting. It could probably be made more interesting if it were rebalanced a little - maybe make each person's water drain faster and make the shields consume more energy when active. Perhaps each of the people you are trying to save could give a unique benefit so you would need to prioritise saving some people over others.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm definitely not too awesome at art or sound effects haha. But I'm happy you got the general gist of things! And the lack of explanation and in game exposition was meant to convey the whole mystery behind the ancient tech that this tribe finds and doesn't really understand - So I'm happy that came across :) Definitely agree with you, the game needs to be completely rebalanced, as like you said in its current state is just not exciting. The unique benefits from each guy is actually a good idea, I'll try and incorporate that into my post jam version!

Really creative game, the balanced gameplay, along with the really cool idea, made for a fun experience.

Art and sound weren't as impressive as the gameplay and polish, but that just goes to show how good those things were, since art and sound are still above average.

Overall really good entry, it's nice to see one idea being fully used by the dev, and so well balanced.

Thank you very much for the kind words! Yeah haha, I'm not an artist or sound engineer by any means! Personally I believe the game could do with some fine tuning, in order to get the most out of it, and push the theme of sacrifice across even more. I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

Nice little puzzle game. I think I got the good ending with the village getting rain at night.

art is nice, concept is good, but lacks game play elements and repetitive need to add few more upgrades few more ways of playing the game and different stages.

Yea I'd agree that it gets repetitive, but I feel like what's needed aren't more mechanics, just fine tuning of the ones already present. The fact that it takes so long, the tribesmen don't dehydrate that fast at all, and the sunbeams pose no real threat makes the game feel quite boring. But I'll be fixing all that! Do you have any suggestions for different upgrades/ways of playing the game?

Graphics are not bad mechanics either. But the thing that irritated me whilst playing this through was that it was really boring and it didnt engage me at all i just kept playing through as to give a complete review. Would've liked for it to keep getting harder each level as it was really easy. If you just upgrade the shield generator to full and let them all on at all times you wouldnt need to do anything.

Thanks for playing it all the way through! Which ending did you go for? And did you manage to piece together aspects of the world? One of my concerns is that without any in game exposition everything would seem kind of random. Completely agree with what you've said, the game in its current state is seriously not engaging and lacks the need for any real user input. I'm planning to balance the game quite a bit, so that the journey takes a lot less time, the power runs out faster, and the tribesmen dehydrate faster. Hopefully that would make the game more engaging!
