Neat game, but I can't handle the difficulty. I would have preferred if their was a checkpoint after each health bar, even if just as an optional easy mode. I do like the variety of different attacks, at least.
The visuals are simple but they work well and are very easy to read. Unfortunately the music loop is way too short.

I do love me a good bullet hell. Few issues though - without any background features to orient yourself, moving feels a little confusing particularly when the camera moves with you. The bullet patterns aren't terribly interesting, pretty much just a spiral. Could be a lot more variety. Music restarts when you die, no bueno. Other than that, solid fun game me likey

I'm a sucker for bullet hells. The different attacks were good! Although my eyes got a little trippy because of the black and white. It felt like those optical illusion things. Which for some could be a negative but i kinda liked it! The music was sweet! And I think it did just fine with the theme. Some kind of visual feedback from hitting the boss would've been nice. Nice job!

Yes, I agree with every statements of Problematicar;
I also would have liked the first phase to be waaaay shorter cause once I got killed by the second phase, going through the first phase was tedious (cause it's easy and loooong)
I like that it feels kind of epic though, big bosses are cool.
Also, you said in a reply: "I was unable to beat the boss despite coding all the phases" That's a sign that the game is way too difficult. Very, veeeeery often, the coder is the one that knows the game best and is able to master it (at first; obviously with time, sometimes even minutes, someone else will get better). Most of the cases, the game is more difficult for the player that discovers it for the first time than the coder itself. The coder should normally be able to beat it. And if it felt difficult for him, then he can be assured the game is challenging enough. If it's impossible for him, then for most people, it will be even more impossible (aha) Obviously, there are exceptions

Pretty fun game, I like all the different phases of the boss except the last one, and it's not a problem of the phase itself but of the artstyle, because when you have no frame of reference it gets pretty frustrating to both know your position and the boss position while dodging the lines at the same time. I think something different than a completely white background would've made moving around the level simpler.
Also a pretty common problem that a ton of games like this one have is the shooting, if there's no knockback or finite ammo or anything like that then noting stops the player from just constantly shooting, and at that point you might aswell have made the shooting automatic, I would've gone either with that or some knockback every time you fire.
Overall it was still an ok game, for everything except the music, that got annoying pretty quickly.

Fun game but how is this "one shot"?
First off, thanks for playing the game, and here are some interpretations of theme that can be seen in the game. First, the premise of the game is to avoid every attack because even a single attack will “one shot” you. Additionally, if you read the lore we provided with the entry, you could interpret that the circle has “one shot” at reclaiming his former prestige. Finally, the game has no save points (granted there is only one boss) so you have to do everything right in that “one shot” (attempt) at clearing the game. We hoped that one of these interpretations would be enough to satisfy the theme requirement.

Drawn here by the name, stayed for the epic boss rush. I managed to get him down to the last bar, but when he started moving I couldn't take all the heat. Love it! Fun and fast and simple and good.

I can't seem to get past the laser phase... I suck!
I think if there was some sort of feedback when you hit the boss (visually and audio-wise), it would have been lots more fun to play.
The laser phase is relatively difficult, but the following phases are more difficult. There is “bullet berserker”, “around the world”, and “stalker” phases after that. I was unable to beat the boss despite coding all the phases, but the person who did our music without knowledge of the phases managed to complete the game, so it is not impossible.
Your suggestion is interesting. We considered the boss to blink when hit, but our laser warning visual is really similar, so we didn’t do that because we didn’t want to confuse the player. Additionally, the player shoots 5 times per second so any hit sound we implemented sounded like a broken record if you didn’t miss. In the end, we decided to keep the pumped up music as the only audio and have hp indicated at the bottom.
