Hi all. The first thing I thought of when the theme popped up was Doctor Who's sonic screwdriver and then Inspector Gadget. I started playing off those themes to get started and have three rooms built around the idea that you have a tool that can shoot, let you fly and protect you.

WASD and Arrows move. Space to fire laser, Control to jump. On any play screen, F1 restarts the level (with a point loss).

I'll admit the game is rough with some quirks that need to be addressed should I take this forward. No music or sound effects, but I hope you can get some enjoyment out of this one as is.

Interesting game! I included it in my GM48: One Tool, Many Uses compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/CSolNVWY9mU

Control scheme was a bit odd for me as well. Space to jump would have been more intuitive. Not sure what the towers do. They didn't seem to hurt me much. In the end it was the flying that killed me, by taking so much stamina (I did beat it eventually though).

But, a little bit of sound, more consistent art size, and re-balanced stamina use and you'd have the makings of a solid plat former (especially the flying thing. That was cool).

The controls are so weird and unintuitive... ctrl to jump? that gotta be the oddest choice. I think the propeller should have been a secondary choice, while w would be better to jump. The jumps feels clumsy and you sometimes fall down losing despite making the right jump :/

The idea is not bad, but the execution isn't optimal :T

Cool ideas, and a good basis for a game concept. Fits the theme well, and the animations are pretty nice even if the art itself is lacking. It controls in a very "retro" way which has a nice charm to it. The idea of the copter is fun to play around with too. The spash screen at the startup was a really good idea and helped me a bit with controls which was nice.

Very rough around the edges at the moment though. I often get stuck in the floor unable to move, the laser seems to not work most of the time even if I move forward, and you can jump right through walls and get stuck. When flying, it seems like the character doesn't like to go in the correct direction for a while.

I do think there's some potential here, though. If the game was polished, the bugs were fixed and the controls improved, I think it could be a nice game, because the core idea is quite good.

Thanks Joseph. I really appreciate the feedback and cannot disagree with any of your points. I have a ways to go to get rid of some of the bugs you found! -John

Nice animations and particle effects! I havn’t seen or heard much about D.r who but I think I got the Idea. The game is full of different controls and you need to find out how and when you use them to get the highest score. But I don’t like is the gravity system. It’s not glitchy but you can’t move while falling or jump while standing still. Even though It’s not often used - you often fly to go upwards - it would be a lot nicer if you watched a tutorial on how to make a more comfortable one.

Thanks Ivar. I wanted to add a simple straight up jump (just one of the things I ran out of time to do). I made a conscious decision not to let you move when falling. I really need to work on the gravity issue especially when jumping - that was one of the last things I was working on and.,.. well, again ran out of time. Wonderful that you provided verbal feedback. Thank you so much! -John

I really liked the concept of the fact that my tool works like Gadget's and allows me to fly! I'm pretty rubbish at games, and I found it a bit tricky to shoot the laser as I had to move whilst doing so.

It's pretty tough, it would have been really nice if you had maybe a shielding mechanic to work with his tool as well, though I suppose technically the copter mechanic does this :D

Nice little compact game, I would have loved to have heard some sound effects from things like the laser though :D looks like it would be a pretty devastating sounding laser!

Thank you so much for the verbal feedback, Charlotte. I appreciate it. Agree, I really wish I had had the time for sound and music. I really like you 'devastating sounding laser' comment... I'll be working to refine things based on yours and other's feedback and hope to have a better experience at some point! Very much appreciated,!! -John
