You parents are away, so your dumb sister is having a secret party in the garden.

Knowing her, it will be a disaster. So you decide to help out, by acting as the "Squirt Patrol!"

When an incident is about to happen, squirt the right liquid on there to fix it in time!

Do your best to have a succesful secret party!

CONTROLS

  • It's an FPS (first person squirter) - it's really not that complicated. Mouse aim, WASD movement, the usual. Some keys for tweaking FOV, UI scale etc. Controls are explained on game menu.

  • Additionally, you can press Control to unbind the mouse from the window.

  • Also "Press Enter to Return to Menu" is a typo, you should press Escape 🙃

REAL TALK

Just learning how to make a 3D game was my prime goal for this jam. Considering I only learnt how to make 3D models and stuff less than a week ago, and now how to do 3D games in a weekend? I'm satisfied.

Theme is maybe a little ambiguous. Of course every mission has a time limit. And time until party ended / parents returned home was supposed to play a role too, but..

😎

...I ran out of time.

Great game, my only complain would be to have a compass instead of a smoke to guide you, I lost a couple of times before I realized I should follow the smoke.

The artstyle and background sound works really well.

Well made game, and idea was unique. Graphics were simple in 3D, but the drawings were good and had personality. Simplicity works here. And although 3D world was simple, I like that bushes are not just boxes but they have rounded up edges, giving more polished look.

I noticed that the fastest way to move was to hold W and A/S, and look 45 degrees away where you are going. Not gamebreaking, but makes easier if you can handle it.

I wish there was better Menu screen and something visual presentation of endings, but I don't know how much time you had left. Gameplay was solid, though there wasn't much and replay value is low after having won and lost. I did shoot the shark-girl to the sky :) And what were the clowns?

Quirky, well made game! I included it in my GM48: Countdown compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/oApJHC00338

Well, for once, your 3D game fits the theme :p

I like how it feels and it being a 3D game feels unique in this jam. It got a bit repetitive but it's fun nonetheless. Sometimes the timing is a bit too short.

Really nice game, good art that is fun, sound effects are good ("thank you" voice made me laugh). The messages on the side are a really nice touch and add to the immersion. Shark girl is the best character. Only complaint I have is the game-play is a bit repetitive, would be perfect with a few more tasks and variety. Great job!

This is so nice and cute :D

I'll complain a little though. The different options were nice, but I fell like the HUD ones were a little useless, default size is a little big, but the smaller one is too small! (and you can still scale up the UI wtf? :D)

I would have liked the missions to be a little more different, not what you do or the sprites, just the flavor text. The game is pretty repetitive, but have 3 or 4 time the same request in the same run is a little disappointing.

And maybe having some kind of deduction puzzle would make the moment to moment gameplay more interesting instead of having the smoke coming from the right NPC directly. But this is nitpicking, especially for a jam.

I have one question though: how the hell do you get 3D models imported into game maker? I'm guessing you're using GMS2 and this is easier? Because I tried doing that for my game (I had a less round ghost model...) and couldn't find anything working, everything was some weird custom editor that wasn't supported anymore :(

PS: oh and good job on the projectiles! when I started aiming a little upwards and I saw the weird angles, I realized it must have been a huge pain to get right (those trig equations are already a pain in 2D..). And they even leave a mark on the ground at the right spot!

      Thanks for the feedback! ♥

The UI scale option is absolutely not useless. It's to accomodate different resolutions. If I fullscreen the game on my display, that means it's running at 3840 x 2160, and 4x UI scale is absolutely necessary for comfortable play. If I had better eyes, 3x might work. If you play in a tiny window, 1x or 2x should work better. I could've made a more sophisticated system for automatically adjusting the scale of it, but due to the time limit I made it a manual control alongside pixellation (a thing I personally like, but others might not) and FOV.

You're right about the gameplay, that's what happens when you spend 90 % of the time on tech 😅

I used a modified version of this static mesh converter to import the models. You open an .obj file, it converts it to vertex code that GMS2 understands, and copies it all to your clipboard so you can easily paste it into your project. Still not exactly super streamlined, but good enough for a project like this

Uh... I couldn't really find the people who needed my help. That being said, this is a fun game! Really interesting idea.

Fantastic job brother! I can't imagine trying to tackle a 3D game during a game jam lol but you were able to do it. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to beat it but I finally did. Also, I recorded myself playing the game lol... you can see it here!!! https://youtu.be/B3Yk7I8cd7Y

Ok - very cool! This is only the third time I have ever seen 3d with gamemaker done at all decently. Pretty cool! Very crisp and clear.

It took me failing a few times to figure out the smoke was where I was supposed to go. At first i thought it was just the smoker "smoking" lol. I was just running around looking for someone that would need sunscreen at first! :D

Pretty cool sound effects. Nicely done "Party" atmosphere. every now and then I heard that "Heeeeey". I lol in my heart.

Aside from being lost at first, I think you could improve the game overall by variation of all the people at the party... would cause the player to feel a bit less lost (aside from the maze obviously) unless that was a game element.. if so... good job! :D

Impressive! It's always cool to see new things being done with GameMaker, as well as inspiring :D

The artwork is sweet and enjoyable, and really sets a good mood.

I thought the whole message and quest giving UI was excellent, very smooth and well executed. Also well written :)

At first it was a little confusing trying to locate the person I was after, but I quickly spotted the smoke effect, and thought that navigating through the small maze was fun.

After a while it does get a little repetitive, but overall a job well done for a game jam!

The original idea for the game's setting was a beach, and the player was a "lifeguard" kinda rescue unit that people would call when they had a problem. For theme and scope reasons I changed it to a garden party and the "facebook chat"-style UI, and yeah, I'm happy with how it turned out 😄

Neat idea. It's pretty enjoyable touring the party and squirting away everyone's problems, though it does get a bit repetitive after a while. I feel the gameplay could've been expanded a bit more somehow. Perhaps you could need to restock each "weapon" or there could be multiple objectives you would need to prioritise.

The art style is nice and the 3D effect is really cool. The audio is also well made and chosen, and it all adds up to create a pretty charming feel for the game.

Thank you! I did think about having you refill your weapons at certain places, or even having the player find the weapons lying around the garden to begin with. Time ran out.

I've heard that you could make first-person shooters in gamemaker, but i never thought it could be done to this extent.

The effort you put into this is highly commended. I do wish that there were a better indicator to where each task is needed to be done. I also thought having the projectiles travel further wouldn't be bad either.

    Fantastic job in this.

      Thanks!

I'll tell you a secret. 3D sounds scary and intimidating when you've never done it, but once you start looking into how it's done, you realise it's actually not that complicated...except making the projectiles work properly, i.e. travel in a correct angle, at a decent speed, and actually spawn at the tip of the weapons. That took a long time, and yeah as you said, could still very much be improved lol

Alright just the fact that you did 3d is impressive, add fun gameplay to that and you get a great game. I would have liked some music in the background to fill the audio a bit. The tasks were a bit too easy though, after i found out about the smoke trails it was a walk in the park for the rest of the game.

Thank you!! I had thought about adding some speakers here and there that would play music, and then stop if you squirted on them. Obviously didn't have time for it though 😅

The best 3D Gamemaker game to date.

This game was really fun to play, and the 3D was really cool aswell, the only problem is that I couldn't 420 blaze it without getting caught.

Great concept! It was a little confusing finding people until I realised the smoke particles worked as an indicator, and then it got a little too easy to be honest. But it was still a lot of fun to play and the art looks really nice, nice job!

Heh, yeah, that all sounds about right. I originally wanted the timers to start longer, and then decrease with every succesful mision, but I never got around to implementig that lol

I love the concept to this, it gave me some very good Blendo Games vibes :)

Intuitive, easy to control, and the 3d is a nice interesting twist on what I usually see from these jams. Very well executed overall!

Thanks! I'm not really sure if I see that similarity to blendo games, this is way worse than any of their games 😅

I think the thing I consciously took the most inspiration from was enviro-bear 2000, which is another very janky 3D game about a bear driving a car

Ooh, a 3D game! It reminds me of Duke Nukem 3D for some reason, maybe it's the lovely primitive 3D graphics used here, with sprites used instead od models.

i really really like the 3d in this game the charicters look cute! the gameplay was fun, and not hard to use

but i found that it was really confusing to find the people you were looking for while the text thing was going and all while focusing on the time

the game was pretty overwhelming, but fun in the end!

Getting lost in a garden maze was a bit of an intended feeling, but even then I did try mitigating it a little. I first tried implementing 3D positional audio, so you'd hear some noise from the direction of the target, but even when all of my vectors seemed correct it didn't sound right. So instead I added some smoke particles that appear over the target person, they should be visible from anywhere in the garden. I also wanted the mission timers to start longer, then decrease with every mission, but alas, I ran out of time and had to release something :P
