Cool idea and world - I just think it was lacking a bit in execution (move speed is too slow, the zooming in/out doesn't look great because of the pixel art). But for 48 hours, not bad! A nice selection of puzzle pieces, nice inspiration from Zelda.

The movement speed could be fixed fairly easily of course by just speeding it up. The path finding was also a nice visual touch - although I'm not sure left click to move is necessary, it might feel more fluid using a more standard WASD/Arrows? Maybe something to test!

The zooming issue isn't something you've done really, it's just zooming and pixel art - they don't get on, at least not with a smooth zoom like this. You'd need to impliment fixed zoom points (50, 100, 200, 300% etc, whichever works for the pixel art size).

Good job though, congratulations on your entry :)

Game was bit too big and vast with player speed so small, taking too long travel place to place. It was good to be able zoom out, as otherwise I would not have known where to go. Now pixel graphics are not great for zoomable view though, as Brupipo said. Also it seems you could not move camera with mouse though, which is usually case in this type of games. Graphics seems resembling closely to Zelda Link to the Past, and it feels bit you have ripped them off :s Like bit scaling down and then adding few edits there and here.

No, what you are assuming didn't affect my scoring on art, I just wanted to brought how it felt like. You can have real products, which feels knock-offs without being one, and this has this kind of vibe.

I think bit more originality could have sprinkled here. I would bring up again what Brupido said about zoom and pixel art. Maybe here you could have made tiles inspired of LttP, but drawn in much higher resolution (and as not pixel art), which would also have brought down one problem with zooming.

Wow, that was really cool. I enjoyed the variety of different obstacles and puzzles required to reach the end. Controlling the character with mouse commands is interesting, though I'm not sure it added that much compared to just controlling the character directly. I did like being able to zoom in and out, though - it's nice to be able look over the whole world so you don't get lost.

The presentation is quite nice too. The graphical style does a decent job of evoking Zelda and looks good in doing so. The music is pretty cool, and I like how there are several different tracks throughout the game. Some sounds effects would be nice, but I didn't miss them too badly.

Nice mechanics, clearly inspired by A Link to the Past. I think the game is complete, a well done entry for this jam, but I'll offer some suggestions for improvements after the jam:

    • Pixel art is not a good style for this kind of zoom-in / zoom-out system, pixels tend to deform. You could: a) use fixed zoom, like a state where is 200% and other state where it is 100%, that way you could use pixel art without deforming it with smooth transition; b) use vector art.
    • The UI is too big. It could be smaller,. Some times it got in the way when I wanted to click bottom to move the character.
    • Sound wise it is lacking. I couldn't see the changing in the puzzle of the boomerang (very clever, btw). If t had a sound fx for the toggle, it would help.

These are my main issues. The music sounds could improve, but the melodies are nice. There's a minimalistic approach that I enjoyed. And I really felt I was in that world, the clouds gave a misterious touch, something nice I feel when I play Mario 64 in those stages where you are in a floating island.

Thought I listed some issues, I think it was very well done, fishing was nice, getting to the boomerang was fun, the bridges were a cool addition. Congratulations!

Let me know when the next realm come out!

I really like adventure games (as you can probably tell by my last two gm48 submissions being adventure games) and enjoyed playing this a lot. Especially liked the boomerang puzzle, and the puns in the dialogue. Exploring the world and seeing what step in the adventure was next was fun!

My main feedback would be just more polish and content, in general each aspect of the game was pretty good. But thing like the movement and inventory system feel like they could be tweaked a bit to feel better, and well it was relatively short but in the context of a game jam that's totally understandable.

Overall pretty cool game! Congratulations :D

Cool. I'd make the character faster, so the player doesn't have to wait for his actions to be recognized, or at least implement a fast-forward option. I'd also add some more interactable things to make the world feel more alive, currently it seems as if everything is carefully placed for the game to be completable, it's not organic.

I really appreciated the little details like the fading footprints and the 'throbbing' path.

Unfortunately I got stuck after I threw the fish into the pond – I went back to pick it back up and I was then unable to move with the text 'pick up fish' displayed on the screen. Of course, with a relatively complex game it isn't possible in such a short time to test all of the weird things people will try to do with your game!

Really impressive to have got all the various systems working in such a short time, e.g. the pathfinding, inventory and the various tools. Amazing work!

This is a cool little puzzle box, and I had fun figuring it out... but then I tried to throw the fish into the pond and the game crashed :(

First of all, I wanna give credit where credit is due. I really liked the path finding movement, and how it was presented. That was cool. I also really dug the puzzles, even though some of them were a bit annoying. The player froze once when I tried to pick a plank that was hiding behind some bushes, when there wasn't a path there. And the walking is just tedious. The speed of the player is so low, that it probably takes a full minute just to walk from one end of the island to the other. It would probably have been less tedious if there were some obstacles in the way. Lastly you should probably mention that you ripped off the art from A Link To the Past. I did enjoy the music. I thought especially the theme inside the house was nice. I wish there was more places where that played.

It's cute, I think seeing more expanded on this would be great, I hope you carry on the project, my only gripe is that the zooming in and out is a little too slow, something like holding the button in and moving to zoom in and out faster would have been more helpful, but a bit more polish and this would be a great game, good job! :)

Great job, definitely a lot of Legend of Zelda feelings going on with this one. Love the music too.

Very cool little game! The theme is captured perfectly in my opinion. The art is very Zelda like, which I like, and persistent in its presentation, which I like even more :D The game idea and how you play is very unique I think! This took some getting used to because of that, but afterwards felt really cool playing.

The puzzle had me trying out a few things before getting it right, but I think it was just the right mix of hints and crypticness so it doesn't get frustrating. Music was cool and used cleverly for a hint, but a few sound effects here and there would have been nice.

Overall cool experience, keep it up!

Sidenote: I discovered a bug where you could throw a bush into the nothingness and when you then clicked to grab it you got stuck.

Awesome game! The whole world is very charming, it was fun adventuring through it. I liked the fishing parts. While the player could move faster, I didn't have to do any backtracking since the level design had a nice flow. Graphics are great and the music in the house and by the shrine was a real jam.

    I enjoyed playing this!
