The Count is restless. He can't sleep, and he's out of blood. A package is outside, but as long as the sun's out, it may as well be miles away. There's not much to do but wait for sunset. Time is a cruel beast, but not as cruel as the beautiful ghost what once was his girlfriend. The Count was happy then. At least, that's what the picture shows. She seemed happy, too. What is happiness, anyway?

So I was idly wandering through Reddit and was about to comment about how helpful game jams are for getting a project finished and out into the world. I was grabbing the link for this here jam, only to discover it was well in progress with a mere 17 hours to go. Clearly, I've been away too long. I did the only thing I could, and got cracking on this pretty minimal, tuneless, MSpainterly point-and-click adventure. Enjoy!

Interesting use of the theme, and overall a neat concept for a game. It was kind of enjoyable interacting with everything in the room. The extremely slow movement takes a lot of the fun out though. Having to wait in real time is interesting in theory but I definitely don't have the patience to wait that long. I think the art has a certain charm even if it is a bit crude. Ultimately the game is somewhat dull but has some nice elements and ideas.

It was good interpretation of theme, but I hoped bit more polishing or something more to waste time, I think I found everything you can do.

I did win, just left Count watch tv while I went swimming (:

Did the game have any sounds? I did not hear any while I played HTML5 version.

Lol that's the way to do it. Regrettably it was such a rush job that I didn't add sounds- i'm pretty weak in that area and had some things in mind but lacked the confidence to pull them off. Next time I'll try to be more on top of things and give it all more polish.

Thanks a ton for the feedback! Have a great day!

Interesting take on the theme. I included it in my GM48: Countdown compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/XYwEvzCa2b4

    • You move soooo slowly :<
    • This game is soooo sad :<
    • Gives me a Salad Fingers feel
    • Why is his hand half transparent?

Also, am I missing something? Fachewachewa mentioned an ending, but I didn't manage to find it. Do I need to wait more?

Yeah, it's there, but you have to wait for-ev-er. Salad Fingers was definitely something of an inspiration. It's a ghost hand. He's got a ghost thing going on. On a better day, he might even be a talented vampire with a whole variety of wizard skills, but on this day he's just a mopey ghoul with a ghost hand.

Anyway, thanks so much for playing and for the feedback!

There isn't much here but I really love how you interpreted the theme.

Tbh I even like the ms paint art :D

    Poor sad dracula :(

EDIT: I just "won", I'm glad you did put an ending in the game :)

Lol thank you so much! I was curious if anyone would just let it run until they could win. I didn't intend it to be as... mean as it is, just wanted to capture that sense of total impotence. 2 hours probably would have sufficed.

Anyway, thanks again! I'm halfway tempted to follow it up with the visual novel dating game sequel "Down for the Count"

I see the theme integration (very punny) but unfortunately I didn't find much to do in this game :/

Hey, thanks so much for the feedback. I hear that. Oddly that was sort of the intent. The main feeling I was hoping to evoke was that of going to the fridge over and over like you'll find something new, but you won't, it's just, like, something to do while not doing something else.
