The Evil Wizard has cast a spell which does random things at random times causing chaos. When the timer reaches 0, no one quite knows what is going to happen. Now Meridia must adventure through the lands to reach the Evil Wizard and challenge him in order to stop his spell and the chaos it has unleashed.

I know it's not the greatest game ever and this is my first time in a game jam so I hope people at least give my game a look so they can offer some feedback. I'm always looking to improve my skills so I'd love to hear any feedback you have.
I intend to finish the game. Finished versions can be found at: https://firedingo.itch.io/the-adventures-of-meridia

Game had nice graphics although no animations, but for mummies. I see it isn't finished band there isn't much to play. Healthbar doesn't look like it belongs there, try something else if you continue this sometime in future. But the gamejams are great way to learn what is important and how to make something work quickly, not nitpicking on small details if not necessary. Keep it up :)

If I remember right from twitter this was your first game jam? If so, congrats on the effort! If you'd like to see our reactions, and rating feel free to check out our play through video. You're game is about 1:10:13 in. https://youtu.be/pQicLfNroyI

You are correct and thanks. The feedback is greatly appreciated! :) Animation I know needs work and yeah gameplay sucked. Ran out of time. I did test constantly though. And yes there was a timer to the right and yes it did do something. Enemies needed more work. Again I unfortunately ran out of time.

It's clear that this game is unfinished, but I still really enjoyed the art and music, and the controls felt pretty good. Here are a few quick things you could try to add to make the game feel better for the player:
- Some simple sound effects for jumping and getting hit. Maybe also a lava sound that plays when near/in lava
- Some text at the start of the game to tell you about the controls and what's going on in the story
- Some parallax backgrounds
- A simple screen transition like a fade effect
Otherwise good work for your first game jam!

Thanks for the feedback. I had tried to implement a transition fade effect but something broke in the process and hard up against the clock I just ran out of time to go back and try and fix it up. I agree all those things could certainly add to the experience. Thank you again for giving me some feedback :)

The art is very good, the music is also good but where is the gameplay? You can just walk forward and get to the castle and it doesn't happen anything when you get there. The text in the menu also doesn't fit in the rectangles.
Oh! it's version 0.0.7.7

The game could have been nice with a little more time to do it. There are loads of bugs with enemies (health does not go down) but the tiles are pretty cool. I love your graphic style. The game looks a bit static because the character isn't animated but as you said, it's your first so Congratulations going so far :)

Nice simple platformer. The controls feels pretty good. Getting a different jump height when the timer runs out is kind of interesting (especially since I was just expecting to die) but it ultimately didn't do that much.
The graphics are pretty good and the music is great, though the player character could use some more animation and some sound effects would be welcome.
It seems unfinished in some areas (Health/XP don't seem to do anything and I couldn't do anything with the wizard at the end). I imagine that's just due to the limited time frame though.
