To be the top nun, you must face the island of trials and tribulation, a harsh and fitting feat fit for only the toughest nuns! Fight your way to victory and collect coins as you go, but you must amass a thousand to make it to the top!

  • If you don't have the stats to inflict damage, your only other option is to push your enemy off the island.
  • The Blue Skeleton & Purple Spin-Top's have 2 defence and 8 health, but the Black Devil is the toughest with a 3 defence and 9 health.
  • A shop token will arrive after your first 20 kills, but don't worry if you miss them or can't afford anything, they'll be back every 15 kills.
  • You can't kill a rock, you just can't, it's a rock. And what do you do when you can't inflict damage... see the first point!

image What's a jam game without a couple of 'features'? It's not hugely game breaking and they have been fixed for the post-jam update but just so you know:

  • An error message may happen if you've just died and a spike ball is fired towards you.
  • In the later game, if you see the lazer cannons, don't get a shop token! (The game still counts the cannons as on-screen even after they've left, meaning that the shop ghost will forever be 'on his way', soft-locking the game until you fall off the edge).

Nice, I had a good time with this one, it felt nice to play. I really liked the enemy variety and different options in the shop!

There were times where it got a little frustrating how little my punches pushed certain enemies though.

The goofy theme and writing are a lot of fun as well. Good job!

A fun one! I'm a big fan of the ridiculous setting and the pun name!

I know that letting you mash the melee button as fast as you can may be an issue for many but I actually enjoyed it. Maybe I'd get muscle pain eventually too but it wasn't an issue for me yet.

I like that the game encourages you to use the environment by rewarding you with more coins if you punch the enemies off the sides. That's a good idea!

The shop is integrated into the gameplay in a clever way so that it doesn't break the game flow!

Great job, this was a fun entry :)

Awesome game!! I love all the monster variety and designs, the little demons are cute. The shop system is really cool, it adds more depth to the game. Nice Jam!!

Quite enjoyable, with polished sound and visuals. The balance between fighting enemies and thinking about upgrades was well struck, which made for a fun experience.

I've tried to beat this a bunch of times now, but every run that I didn't die on ended up getting soft locked, after grabbing a shop ticket but then the shopkeeper never showing up :/ Haven't seen anyone else mention that in these feedbacks, so idk if I am just incredibly unlucky or what?

It would be nice if I could play with arrow keys instead of WASD. The arrow keys still make the character animate, so I guess you started implementing that but never finished? XD

I also wish I could just hold down the attack button instead of having to press it constantly. Or alternatively if there was some more strategy to the combat beyond "just press this button a bunch"

That is the biggest problem I've had with this entry, one little line of code that was incorrect, basically if you see the Lazer cannons then get the shop token then it doesn't correctly count the shop tokens as off screen to bring the shop in. I'm so annoyed at how simple a fix it is but that I'd missed it 😬 it's fixed in the post jam version though so at least there's that! Basically, until then though, if you see the lazer cannons, don't get a shop token! Thankfully they don't turn up straight away but it does add a bit of an extra challenge for now 😅

I did try arrow keys but for some reason it wasn't working out during testing, it kept responding weirdly, and by this point I was running out of time so I just had to stick with just WASD but this is something I want to get fixed too so it'll be updated :)

Fab little game, this! A lot of good enemy variety, solid controls, and it felt "complete" thanks to the music, the SFX, the menus, and the polish all round.

I definitely felt a little overpowered once I realised instead of using K OR Space to hit, I could use K AND Space. Gave me much faster knockback on the rocks where it mattered, and faster kills on the high-hit-point enemies 😄 honestly don't think that's even a complaint, it felt great just wailining on everything!

    Lovely work!

Thanks so much, I'm glad you've enjoyed it 😀 I didn't think that allowing an either-or option would open up allowing a BOTH option, but it's a great plan to smash through the little devils haha!

Nice game! Definitely a very unique take on the theme, and it has a lot of personality-- I love the shop and shopkeeper especially. There's a huge amount of enemy variety, which goes a long way to keep a game like this from getting boring-- and I always feel like I'm making meaningful choices about where my money goes. There's also polish in the little things-- like the nun alternating her punching hand, or the really well done menus. I don't really understand the point of the jump function, but it doesn't take away from the game, so it's not an issue. What is an issue, however, is that one time I picked up the ghost coupon and the game got stuck on the "On my way!" screen. No new enemies spawned, and the ghost never came, so I had to quit. Shame, cause it was my best run yet as well. Definitely an issue worth looking into and fixing, but overall, fun game! I'll probably come back to play more later.

Thanks so much, I'm really glad you liked it! 😁 The jump function is only for when the Lazer enemies show up, originally I'd have liked to use it for more but you know how it can be with the time limits lol. And as for the issue with the shop token, sadly that is something that can happen occasionally due to a little issue but it has been fixed now so I'll certainly update the game post jam with that fix :)

Ohhh, I didn't realize I could jump over the laser. I was just maneuvering around it when it appeared for me. Maybe tutorialize that somewhere in the game?

Can't wait to play the post jam version! (:

Great game, I really liked the store and the animations of the store popping up, really cool memorable piece to it. Aside from that random bit that stuck out to me, this was all around great.

Your games always overflow with character and originality, and this one is no exception. The silly dialogue, fun character designs, multitude of enemy types, and addictive gameplay all make this another winner. Lots of fun!

Very nice entry! I think my favourite part has to be knocking enemies off, especially ones that would take a large amount of hits and then cashing in on the gold. The enemy variety was pretty impressive too, it meant you had to change your approach which kept the gameplay fresh. Perhaps having the power-ups be cheaper and more frequent could be interesting, because in my replays I tended to skip the first apperance of the shop so I could save up more gold. Overall, great work!

Fun arcade game! I enjoyed the loop and it is super fun to push enemies off the island. Gameplay was definitely fun and the controls were responsive. Control wise, I think I prefer jump button on spacebar. Muscle memory and all that. I think I'd have liked a little more interaction with the island. Pushing them off the edges was definitely satisfying but I think some variety would be nice. Like the island changing a little bit to hammer home the feeling of claustrophobia and needing to do a little parkour action. I enjoyed the balance of when the shop came and went. The variety of enemies was also impressive! I wasn't sure what the jump button was for till later. Enjoyed the hectic panic as more enemies spawned and you're trying your best to survive. Think having the jump also be useful if the island shifted would be a nice way to re-use the mechanic and hammer in the theme more. Not that the interpretation of the theme was bad! I also appreciated the music and sound design. It's the kind of game that makes you want to jump in and try again so it's nice the music loop isn't grating and feeds into the "let's give this game another go". Action games definitely need controls to feel smooth and responsive and I think you definitely achieved that which makes it a lot of fun to keep playing on.

Thanks so much, I'm really glad you liked it! I did consider the jump mechanic being mapped to the spacebar instead of the attack, but thought that the attack is used far more often so I went with that choice instead but this is just one of those things that, with more time, could be infinitely expanded on with more uses for jumping and more changes to the island etc. :)

Neat game! I wasn't able to get far because I died instantly at 70 hp (I think maybe I walked off of the edge?). I really enjoyed just spamming the attack button, but maybe a secondary attack could result in some more interesting gameplay. Maybe an attack that is more geared towards crowd control, but with less damage than a punch to individual enemies.

Overall a good game! I can't think of much else wrong with what you have.
