You're a 2D drawing on a 2.5D island. That pretty much sums it up.

I started this as a joke submission 5 hours before the deadline, but I kinda like how it turned out, so I'm calling it a proof of concept demo instead. I'll probably make a full version of the game someday.

I love the jumping sound so much. The walking sound is also great but gets a little grating when it loops too much.

Also! The crab is so cute! AHH!

To be honest, for 5 hours that's really impressive! The content is cohesive! The way the text is displayed is really cool and although the sounds are a bit harsh, the're rather creative! Feels a bit barebone without a music but I mean... in 5 hours can't expect much, there's already so much! And honestly, the crab-paper concept is, in my opinion, enough on its own! I'd even like to see an adventure with a crab made of paper, which is funny since... well it's a crab! I also like the nod on it and that's why water hurts you, that's creative!

Thanks for the feedback! I was hoping to have a complete version of the game (with music, better sfx, and y'know, actual levels) ready for Post-Jam... but alas, I haven't done any more work to this haha. Someday though!

What a cute game! For what it lacks in gameplay and challenge, it makes up for in aesthetics and audio... The dynamic animations on the crab make it lively and I find the walking and jumping sounds really satisfying. I like how the story and tutorial is written into the game world.

    This game changed my life.

I'm not sure yet if it's for better or worse.

Honestly? Even if he is poorly drawn, he's pretty cute.

I've tried making a game in 3 hours before so I know how hard it can be to make something polished in a short timespan, but you did a good job with it! Little details, like the sound effects, his eyes looking in his direction of movement, or the islands in the background-- I only wish I could see what it would have looked like if you had given it the full two days of development.

Unsurprisingly, it's a little short, but what's there is nicely crafted. Let's quit GM48 and start GM5, I'm sure you'd win that :P

I like a self aware game and this made me chuckle. Would've been nice to see it completed because I actually like how it looks and all that. Pretty kool regardless.

I really like the crab, definitely worth it for the crab and I thought the underwater part was a funny way to get the most out of the water mechanic

Thanks! I had a lot more planned for the underwater mechanic, but level development got pushed to the last 30ish minutes before the deadline, so I had to rush through it just to have something playable. :P

I liked this! The artstyle is actually really funny. I hope you will publish post-jam version with extended levels.

I really love the aesthethic of a 2d doodle within 3d space; this animation quality is illegal for a game jam. For something made in 5 hours, this is absolutely amazing!

Not bad for 5 hours! I've never done anything in 2.5D, so that's impressive in and of itself! Good job!

Thank you! I just happen to have been studying 2.5D tutorials recently, so figured the Jam was a good time to test it out haha

Really cool 2.5D stuff! The art style was very cohesive and the paper crab looked right at home on the 3D island.

Some small details I enjoyed: I love the crab sound, the story was fun, I like how the crab looked like it was drawn on notebook paper. I didn't think it was poorly drawn though so the title was misleading :P

Crab animation of looking up when jumping and the little legs was fun.

It is also a neat idea of water the hurting paper crab.

Love the whole vibe and mood of it!

As a proof of concept, this is great, the programming for 2.5D can be a bit tricky at the best of times and there's something quite satisfying about the clakity-clack of the crab movement! Great start and I hope you do develop it further :)

Interesting art style and sounds, but I liked it! Humorous too. I understand the game was made in just 5 hours and this is impressive for a game made in that time frame.

I love the 2.5d style and the crab looks great. The sound effects are great too. Something about them made me laugh but they fit really well. Great humour too.

I only wish there was more to it, bit longer, some enemies etc. but for doing this in 5 hours you did a great job.

Hope to see a post jam version of some sort. Great work.

Thanks! I hoped to throw enemies in, but towards the end I had to choose between that and having at least a few levels to play, so I opted for levels haha. Post-Jam version will definitely be fleshed out a lot more.

I'm jealous of your artistic ability! Had a good time with the short game, enjoyed the humour too! The 2.5D looked really good and I'll be keeping watch for a post Jam version! Honestly my only complaint is I wish it was longer.

Thanks Quentin! Yeah, I got started way too late on this one, and wound up spending all my time on the engine and very little time on everything else. I think I started building levels about 30 minutes before the deadline lol. When and if I do a post-jam version, I'll definitely make it a properly long game.

Short and sweet. Love the playful style and especially the sound effects. Gameplay isn't revolutionary but I played to the end so I guess I'm not complaining! I'd like to see more later, maybe, after the competition.

Thanks very much! I got a really late start on this one, so I had to cut a lot of things I'd planned. Sometime after the Jam I'll probably expand upon it.
