Description

Well, I was only able to work on this for one of the days, but I enjoyed it. Basically the concept is that when the player dies, his ghost can inhabit other objects and fight bandits. I was planning on adding new abilities per object, but I really ran out of time.

Update: link to an updated version on itch.io- https://bubadabado.itch.io/ghost-town

Important note: There ended up being some bugs for the web version, so please download rather than playing in your browser. I will try to remove the web version if I can.

Summary

Players found Ghost town to be a fun and interesting game with a unique possession mechanic. However, the web version had bugs affecting respawning and enemy spawning. Some users suggested improvements like distinct behaviors for inhabitable objects, UI enhancements for cooldowns, and adding music to enhance the atmosphere. Overall, the concept was praised but technical issues and missing polish lowered the experience for some.

It was funny, possessing other things ^^ The web version bugged, didn't really work, new guys didn't appear and you couldn't respawn, I downloaded exe file and played that. Sadly no music at all, something western / spooky could have worked. Nice idea :)

Killed 40 dudes before dying for the first time, and realizing I could poses random objects - not other cowboys - really made me laugh :D

Even without special abilities, the jam version is pretty good!

    my nitpick list:

    • prevent the mouse from exiting the screen
    • there's 3 different cooldowns, add gauges or something, especially for the automatic reload
    • you can fan the hammer independently of your current ammo? not sure if it's a feature :D

thanks for the great feedback! most of those things were lacking because I didnt have time to fix them lol (especially the gauges). And fanning the hammer independently is a feature, as I felt the player could be underwhelmed very easily without it, and it felt like I was reloading far more than I was actually shooting while testing it.

darn. I knew there were bugs with the web build for some reason, but not sure why. I guess I had better remove it. The download should work perfectly.

This is a really fun game. I wish the different inhabitable objects played differently though, that would have been interesting. I think the concept is great though. EDIT: Cool, I'll have to play it again once you finish those updates!

yeah, I was planning on doing that, but I wasnt able to work on it for one of the days so this was all I could get to sadly. I will add an update with unique abilities though. I will also post an updated version on itch.io.

Edit: link to updated version with unique abilities in the description.
