Controls: left click on the apple, then hold and drag it around
Keep the apple alive by avoiding the snake mouths. Kill the snakes by making them run into themselves. Beware of special snakes.
Made in 8 hours.
Notice: This is mostly just a working prototype of a potential project in the future. I'm looking for suggestions to make this game better.

If you have to hold the apple through the whole thing (and I think you do, leaving it alone exposes it easier to danger imo), better have the apple always be on the mouse once picked up?
I like how there are several snake types, especially the armored one. I wish you could pick up points or bonuses of some sort, cause the challenge only resides on how well you can make the snake spin.
Also, avoid default pop-up messages. These are bad! But yeah, deadline I guess.

Cool concept. Especially liked the armor snake idea. Where it loses points for me is theme (But hey, you said it was trying out a concept, which I totally respect) and music/sounds would be a nice addition.
Ideas For Improvement: -The disparity between snake speed seems really fast out the gate. Some were like snails while others were out for blood (err... applesauce). Like Joseph mentions, gradually making them faster as the game progresses would be a nice ramp-up. -I don't know why, but I wanted to be using the WASD keys to move the apple. All I could think of was how cool it would be if this was a small dude running away from these giant snakes! Much more engaging than an apple. And then you could add all sorts of cool pickups and maybe even a life system. -Maybe adding obstacles that the snakes or player have to avoid / can use to their advantage. -Also adding terrain / zones where you or the snakes get bonuses or debuffs.

This game took me a few minutes to wrap my head around. I didn't understand that snakes have to hit themself for example, so I was trying to hit snakes into other snakes. I also didn't realize at first that the snakes follow your cursor, not the apple. After this, I noticed that you can move the apple off the screen and the snakes will never reach it. There's also no sound, which is a big detractor. It would be better if the game started out slowly, and over time the snakes got faster and turned sharper. But it's very hard and they already can move very fast from the beginning.
Despite all that, I'm still fond of it. Once I started understanding how to play (without cheating and putting the apple outside of the screen), it played pretty well. It also looks nice, the snakes themselves function well, and most importantly, it's a good groundwork for a game that could be a lot of fun.
It's a nifty idea, and with just some small tweaks it could be really good!

Thanks, that means a lot! Yeah, the game has many mechanical issues I can fix. I'm mostly seeing if people enjoy the core game play, as I can improve on it in the future. any suggestions would help me out loads.

This is an original take on the Snake concept, but it's pretty easy to master the game. The gameplay gets kinda boring in, like... 5 minutes. Also, no sounds and no music makes this even more boring.
edit: make it harder because it feels too easy now after you learn to abuse snakes' behavior

Yes, I wanted to take snake and twist it in my own way. If you could make improvements to it, what would they be?
