Summary

Puzzle Squares presents an interesting and unique puzzle mechanic that aligns well with the jam theme. However, several players found the game initially confusing due to minimal instructions and basic visuals, which impacted intuitiveness. The use of an installer was strongly criticized by multiple players. Despite these issues, once the mechanics were understood, players found the puzzles enjoyable and engaging.

The puzzle mechanic isn't a bad idea but it's very confusing at first. I like how it follows the theme. The visuals are so basic though, it's part of the initial confusion. I couldn't tell what was a bridge and what was a block and had to read the description again (twice). It should have been more intuitive and the basic shapes don't help at all... But I guess you tried your best.

Also.... never... ever... use... installers.... i can not stress that enough...

This was a nice little puzzle game that fits the theme well. Some degree of instruction within the game would have been an improvement, just the displaying the controls would have helped. Just be sure never to distribute an installer in the future, a .exe is all you need.

As people have told you last time, please avoid installers.

Has a very minesweeper-ish vibe artistically, which can be charming. Took me a while to get past the beginning as well, and to understand the basic mechanics. Most of which could be fixed through presentation, like showing you where you place the first part of the power as you select the second, and making the laser two tiles wide instead of just one so the player instinctively makes a wall instead of just a block. Once I understood it though I had some good fun, and there were a few good and simple puzzles before I reached the end.

Very interesting concept. I don't think I'v ever played a game with this building block mechanic. It took me a long time to figure out how to advance, but once I did it was very fun. Blocking lasers, making bridges very fun. Stuck to the theme too. Good job.
