Summary

Pen vs Pencils is praised for its engaging gameplay, well-paced difficulty, and appealing polish including music and AI mechanics. Players appreciated the shop and character selection features, though some found the color-switching controls unintuitive and suggested improvements. The game performs better in full screen, and unique mechanics like catching coins add to its appeal. Overall, it is considered a pleasant and well-crafted game with minor usability issues.

A really nice level of polish and interesting AI mechanics. The game introduces new enemies to counter at the perfect pace and has you hooked quickly, wanting to unlock new skins. The music was not at all intrusive and fits the game perfectly. Playing in window mode can be quite difficult as you sometimes have to click towards the edges of the screen quite quickly. It feels much better to play in full screen mode. I also liked having to almost 'catch' the coins as they fell - this is a really nice touch and added a dynamic to the genre that you don't usually see, but I agree with what others have said about maybe assigning colours to the number buttons for quick switching, and informing the player on how to use change. A hard to fault submission, well done!

    There was a lot here!

A decent enough start screen, a shop, character select! I liked it a lot, well done!

I think the biggest issue I had that I didn't know you could change the color of your pen, until I hit mouse wheel by mistake, I'dmake this more clear in the future.

Also if you can provide a GIF on your submission page this will attract a lot more eyes, felt this game should get more attention.

I found the song extremely catchy! :) In the beginning, it feels like there's too long of a wait between waves but the difficulty picks up the pace later on, until I felt overwhelmed by the increasingly aggressive pencils while struggling to find their matching colors. I wish there was an easier way to switch to a specific color. The player skins at the shop were a nice little touch. Pretty pleasant game overall!

Very good game! The scroll wheel controls makes it a bit harder than it probably should be, but the difficulty scales well.
