Some games can create a lot of interesting gameplay options out of simple rules. Try to make a game that focuses on a single mechanic or idea but uses it in many different ways.
The community finds the theme for the 25th gm(48) through two rounds:
- The first round, which runs from 30th December to 6th January, you can suggest up to 3 themes as well as vote for any theme.
- The second round, which runs from 6th January to 13th January, you can't suggest any themes, and you can only vote for the 10 themes selected from the 6 best themes, 2 funniest and 2 most controversial of the first round.
To help organize the rounds and encourage discussion, there will be a stickied post on /r/GameMaker for each of the rounds. The theme for the 25th gm(48) will be announced on this page, the home page, /r/GameMaker and Twitter (via @tehwave ) when the game jam starts.
