Chromaticity is a short atmospheric story/puzzle game about someone who lost the ability to see the colors of the world.

Tip: Because of the lack of time it's quite tough to figure out what to do sometimes. But to get you started: if you hold down (or S) to duck, you can also pick things up, sometimes put things down, or maybe even just to take a moment to stare/think.

    I enjoyed the deliberate pace and thought the unique control scheme, like crouching to interact with the ground, made it feel unique. The animation is impressive for a 48hr jam, despite being a bit slow at times. The narration did a good job of explaining the story.

    I accidentally found the green color, but once I found blue, I better understood the 'goal' of the game.

    This was an interesting way to interpret the theme, and I could certainly see this idea being expanded upon in a larger project.

    I didn't get frustrated. I didn't have to check the description to know what to do. I just enjoyed the game. I think it's great.

    This feels very similar to "Dear Anna". Is it based on real-life experience? If it is, it would've been good if you wrote that at the beginning of the game or in the description. It would've improved the experience dramatically.

      Thanks Ivar! Glad you also played Dear Anna. I'm quite proud of that entree, and I'm trying to recreate the theme/feeling I created in that one in these GM48 entrees, but in different ways. It's inspired by real life experiences, but sometimes not literal.

    I really enjoyed this, at first I was a little frustrated walking back and forth having no idea what to do.

    THANK YOU! For supporting controllers, it's such quick and easy thing to put into games, I must prefer controllers, so thanks :D

    Then when found blue was relieved and entertained, really great color shifts with the music also.

    Finding green was easier than blue for me, I know some people have struggled but it's an obvious hint... You are SHOWN it ;)

    I think the pacing was a little slow personally, I'd speed it up a tad, I'd also let kneeling down be quicker which other people have echoed.

    Overall I really enjoyed this experience.

    Was this story of loss and moving on?

      Thanks Trolog, really glad you enjoyed it! :) That's also exactly what I had in mind for this story. The basic idea was to let someone see the joy of life again after the loss of his wife/husband.

    Game is consistent with your previous style, but this time the outcome wasn't that great. As what Wangleline stated, feels artsy but doesn't bring out emotion. Great sounds, but sound effects were lacking. Your last entry was better as there was something to play with, now it felt bit frustrating just to walk one to another, which was bit tedious. I do like the look and your style, but unfortunately this time game itself was lacking :( But keep it up, you doing well in these jams!

      Thanks Tero, as I said to Wangleline I agree that this is probably the worst entree in these atmospheric-story entrees I'm making. When I knew the theme I just couldn't really come up with anything, but because of the time I just started coding/making art. I liked the artstyle that I made, but there isn't really anything unique gameplay-wise. Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it! :)

    I don't really know what to feel after playing this. The gameplay looks and feels "artsy", but I feel like the artist didn't really think about all the elements and what they make the player think etc.

    All in all, the game feels artsy but doesn't convey any emotions to me, the animations are a bit annoying to sit through (make them shorter, please >_<) and the music fits the game pretty well.

    Also, a lot of things don't make any sounds, which makes me - as a sound designer - a bit sad ;w;

      Thanks for the feedback Wangleline. I agree with you. To be honest I think my best submission was my first ( Dear Anna ). While creating this game I thought I could come up with a good conclusion but I just didn't had the inspiration. If it felt a but rushed it's because it is.

      Glad you liked the music, that's the one thing where I really tried to do something different, something I haven't done before. (weird synthesizers instead of guitar/piano) The lack of sounds is because of the lack of time and is something that frustrates me as well :(

      Already can't wait for the next GM48, I'm really going to try to step out of my comfortzone for that one.

    Very nice immersion. An atmospheric game with a nice narrative. The up/down movement could have been a bit more fluid/quicker, but when I found the last colour I realised how much that actually worked. I got blue last. Great entry!

    Very calm and atmospheric. I enjoyed the presentation. I didnt manage to find the green colour though, got the blue and red, but couldnt figure out green. Didnt understand what the device was that showed the 3 coloured dots too. I was thinking the tree would somehow grow green leaves, giving me the colour, but couldnt figure out how to do it. Also the slow crouch annoyed me a bit, even though it fits in into the calm nature of the game, i still wanted it to be a bit faster. But other than that very cool!

      Glad you liked it! Too bad you didn't get the ending. The device that showed the coloured dots is a hint for something somewhere else in the room. (which unlocks the last, green color) Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it! :)
