In the beginning, the player is greeted with a demonic voice. Then, the player then goes through a sacred place filled with evil. The main objective is to perform a ritual to get out. Scattered across the rooms are clues to help you find the items you need and their whereabouts. Carefully read each clue and think of a location you've visited within this place. Fail to complete the ritual in time, well that's for you to discover.

This is my first game jam. The only bug I'm aware of is if you're inventory is full, and you pick up more items, they will be destroyed. And if you accidentally destroy the important items, you might not be able to finish the game. Please be sure to have space in your inventory when you pick up items.

Credit for the dynamic shadows/lighting system goes to Buff. It's a free asset on the store.

SPOILER: How to win the game: At first I thought I made the level a bit too easy. Anyway, to escape you will need to gather 4 paintings: red rose, yellow sun, blue waterfall, green fields. These paintings can be found(no particular order) at:

  • the end of the maze(south west).
  • behind the far right column in the big room with a rotating light(south east).
  • behind the door(hall of doors) that the blood trail leads to(east)
  • last room in the 4 rooms above your spawn point(north).

Now that you have collected all 4 paintings, you will need to drop them in each of the 4 rooms above your spawn point and close the door. You need drop the painting in the room corresponding to the light in the main room. So: red = upper left, blue = upper right, yellow = bottom left, green = bottom right.

The game lags horribly for me. It might be related to the fullscreen bug? I don't know. Turning it to not full screen does not solve it.

Also, never ever force full screen, especially not in a game jam. Always let a way to switch it out. (I mean that you should not seek to disable it). Try to accomodate these!

That said, the game felt immersive and spooky!

Thanks for the feedback, I'll keep that in mind for next time. However it was most likely lagging because of the dynamic shadow system I was using.

Really good atmosphere indeed! I liked that you still got a few easter eggs in

Like Baku, the text was almost unreadable. Also, if you go out of fullscreen, the whole thing breaks. I guess you locked the resolution & UI etc.

Thanks. The "fish with legs" theme put a smile on my face so I had to include it as an Easter egg (if you found that one).

I thought I disabled the user to get out of fullscreen (I guess I've forgotten about Alt+Enter), but only the menu was broken, it worked fine once you were in game. You're correct, the resolution and UI are locked. Unfortunately I didn't have time to test on another PC to check if everything was fine.

This is pretty good for a first jam! It was super immersive and spooky. A shame for the inventory bug, there are so many (useless) papers to collect and it's hard knowing which ones are important before picking them up, especially because it's kind of blurry

But great work in such a short time!

As for bugs, sometimes the character would walk slower than he should; stopping and moving again seems to fix the issue, thankfully

Thanks. Yeah, I think I made the game a bit too hard (you have to go through a lot of useless paper). I put a lot of paper in because I thought I made it too easy. I might include a spoiler on how to actually finish the game.

As for the slow movement bug, I've never encountered it. It is intended though if you strafe or move backwards you go slower. If you have the time, I would like to know how to reproduce the bug, thanks!

Creepy game! I included it in my GM48: Countdown compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/sIqVaQkuHIo

For a first game jam this is quite good!

Really liked the lighting system, and the atmosphere of the whole game!

Unfortunately the game ran very slowly for me for some reason, so it made it quite difficult to keep playing, which is a real shame as I really wanted to explore!

I also agree with what Baku said about the control scheme, and feel like that would definitely be a worthwhile adjustment.

Thank you. Unfortunately I was afraid this would be the case for some people. It's probably running slow because of the dynamic lighting system I was using.

Congrats on releasing your first jam game!! Love the atmosphere, super moody.

    Here's a few notes though:

    • The visuals (except for the inventory HUD) were incredibly blurry. Should I be able to read text like this? Imgur Did you leave interpolation turned on?

    • I really don't love that the movement controls are relative to where you are looking, instead of being relative to the game world. It's just feels wrong

      Thank you for the insight.

      • I'm sorry that this happened. I did leave interpolation turned on. It looked fine on my end, but I didn't have the time to test it on another computer. I think the resolution might be causing this.

      • At first I did it relative to the game world, but then decided to change it because It looked weird looking one direction but moving the other. But I agree with you, I should've left it the way it was.
