Use WASD to navigate the levels. Left click to fire your pistol (not allowed in the first level). Right click to use your taser. Subdue all the cultists in robes by either killing them or stunning them. Press E on the altar to return to HQ.

(Story Line)

Good Morning Officer Jenkins. You are just in time, we received a 911 call from someone who said there were some suspicious looking people going into an old warehouse. He said they were all wearing red cloaks, carrying boxes of candles, and red paint. We want to try to get information from these people, so please use your taser with right-click to knock them unconscious. Go up to the console in front of the screen to get the location of the call. Or you can explore around the office … although I don’t know why you would want to, you come here every day, plus it is not very big.

After Level 1

Congratulations on nabbing the “cultists” as they call themselves. Thanks to our “methods,” we have gotten a tip on where another group of people might be. This group also has “Cult Guards,” which won’t be affected by your taser. Use your Glock with left-click to fire projectiles and remove them from the situation. Be careful not to shoot the cultists, we need them alive. Visit the console to find the location of this group.

After Level 2

You have done it again. I am glad you have the time to attend to these issues, the rest of us are busy doing paperwork. Which, by the way, paperwork is stacking up on your desk, you better get to that soon. But that will have to wait because I have another mission for you. We were able to get the newest batch of cultists to talk and they revealed the location of a group of “more advanced” cultists. Your mission is to find out what “more advanced” means and retrieve these cultists.

After Level 3

Very impressive. I must say I did not think you had it in you to take on those demons, I mean wow demons, who saw that coming am I right? We got the next bit of information from this group of cultists pretty easily because uhh… they were scared without their demons protecting them, ya there we go. The next location is available on the map.

After Level 4

You handled that one like a true angel of death, dealing out justice to those demons threatening our way of life. I mean uhh, good job. I think we have it now, the big boss of the demon world, you have become more than a nuisance to him. Go to the map and show him what you are made of.

After Level 5

(Enter Police HQ to find satanic ritual on the ground and cultists) Welcome. We have been expecting you. You have shown great promise and we would like you to join our cause. I am afraid that no will not be taken for an answer. (Police chief cultist hood reveal) dun dun dunnnnn. (Fade to black)

There is no end, you can’t continue to the fourth level because it is unfinished. Also, the cultist guards' fireballs are LOUD. You have been warned. We didn't start until 28 hours left because we didn't know until then. Anyhow, enjoy the game and leave some feedback if you want.

I was with your game on the minimum volume and the shot was still a blast. I'm really sorry for all of you that endured it at full volume. You all have my respect and my condolences.

On a more serious note, the visuals of your game are pretty cool and the established style is very nice. It was a shame the game crashed at level 4 because I was really liking it, as there is a good diversity of enemies and the game seems balanced.

I like the visual style of this game :)
You weren't kidding about the fireballs being LOUD o.o the gunshot was also loud and even that got obliterated by the fireballs sound... the music was too. Also, maybe the guys shouldn't be throwing fireballs before I got in a proximity radius or in line of sight. I liked the pink dude from level 2 but in level 3 a bomb exploded near me and the game just closed :(
I liked the gameplay, just was expecting the theme to be more represented in the mechanic somehow

The graphics look nice, and I like being able to select levels from a map screen. The controls work pretty well too.

Other than that, there are a lot of flaws here. The fireball sound is too loud, though I don't think the problem is with the sound effect itself: Every enemy in the level shoots at once, which combines the sounds to a make one that's 5 times louder than it should be. The enemies can shoot at you from off-screen, which feels pretty unfair. They also don't check for a collision when shooting, so they just constantly fire at you from behind walls. Also, the game crashed when I tried to enter level 4.

I kinda liked the game until the cop got a gun and shot my ears off.

The level design is poor, the art is kinda nice, and the game crashes at random.

The damn fireball sounds... :( if I had to remember one problem about the game, it's that. My ears! Aside that, not bad, but the game stopped playing when i was about to do the fourth level. Like it froze or something :T

AHHH those fireballs, there's a volume slider for each sound, didn't you test your game :( ?

I think you just put a "game_end" when the player dies ? you shouldn't do that.

Apart from that, the characters look good

Really interesting story! I included it in my GM48: Sacrifice compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/PCTrkXRBDB4

Good effort, but I had a few problems:

    • Level design was poor. I don't mean unoriginal, but just unfair. I was shooting down corridors at enemies that I couldn't see. You die pretty easily too, which makes it more aggravating when you can't even tell where you're supposed to be aiming.

    • Feedback when being hit was poor. A sound effect or a flickering sprite would have made it feel better. You can see bullets hitting you, but it just feels off without more feedback.

    • When you die the game just closes. This made it tedious to retry.

    • The cultist fireball sound effect is LOUD! Or really the sounds are overlaying each other. Maybe make it so cultists can't shoot/the sfx doesn't play from a certain distance?

That being said, I liked the graphics and the controls were good. I have nothing against the gunplay. Honestly, the problems I have with your game are pretty minor, but they're enough to really put me off. All in all, with some more polish and better levels, this could be a neat game.

    level 2 crashed on me.

    • I was to the right, when the room opens up at the top touching the wall. -As I died the game crashed.

I've been able to repeat this crash. Hope this is helpful.

Decent game, graphics are nice and it's in a Nuclear Throne style gameplay wise. In terms of connection to the theme... seems more like Rituals than Sacrifices.

When I was working on the art I definitely used Nuclear Throne and Gungeon as examples. I really liked the way their art felt and wanted to replicate it. As for the theme, we were going to place hostages that were about to be sacrificed in the levels and have a timer to rescue them, but unfortunately we ran out of time to accomplish that. Thanks for playing the game and telling us your thoughts.
