Summary

Players appreciated the core mechanic and concept of the game, noting it as a solid base with good use of the jam theme. However, several critiques focused on game balance issues, particularly the overpowering and abundant health packs, and the simplistic, random level design. Feedback also mentioned the need for more engaging progression, improved animations, and better audio design, with some players finding the music stressful or unpleasant. Suggestions included adding cooldowns, more sound effects, and a game description to enhance player understanding.

Neat start! I included it in my GM48: Sacrifice compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/owM22-wcZP4

The base idea is of sacrificing life to shoot is pretty solid, but the game really needs to escalate in some way (stronger/more enemies as time goes on for example). Right now it's pretty easy to just stay at the bottom forever, shooting enemies and only using the health packs when you need them. Maybe you could have health packs spawn around the level (instead of from enemies) so you have some incentive to explore it.

The graphics look okay, but some animation on the characters would improve this a lot. The music loop is too short and some more sound effects would be nice. I did kind of like the intro music, though.

Nice, I like the super crate box like gameplay, but games like this need really good level design, something this game doesn't have, and even the slightest unbalance in enemy stats or drops can make or break the game.

In this case the problem lies both in the level design being far too basic and random, and in the fact that healthpacks are both permanent, really common, AND recharge you to full health no matter what. All those things conbined make it so the player can just camp at the bottom of the level and spam shoot (Another design flaw, there should be a cooldown), and when his hp is too low he can just take one of the many healthpacks that never despawn.

As I said, I liked the idea, execution could've been a lot better though.

If I may, the music is... difficult to bear. The notes are a bit too random. One of those times the music is not so welcome :s I mean, I appreciate the effort of adding a music but here it's what I dislike the most =s

Also, I greatly encourage you to add a description for your game! It helps people to know what they're going to play and what to expect. It's also a way to communicate :)

Your game seems very balanced, although the health packs are a little too powerful and common. In addition, looking at your game reminded me a lot of a game design lecture by Jan Willem Nijman (The Art of Screenshake). It's very long (45 minutes) but I deeply recommend it to you, I think you'll gain a lot of insight as I did when I watched this for the first time.

    Cheers!

Thank you for your precious feedback... If I decide to make a newer and bigger version of this game I will try to implement the points you told. And finally thank you for sending the link to the speech... I will listen to it if I get enough time... However thank you for playing the game. Hope you enjoyed playing it...

Good base for a more complex game! The core mechanic works well here, though is imbalanced by how good the health packs are. Also, I noticed that bullets go through enemies with health bars.

First of all thank you for your feedback. The fact that the bullets go through the enemies with health bar was noticed by me as well and I will fix it if I make a better and bigger version of this game.

The fact about the health packs were noticed by me right after the jam was over. It was a cheat built for tests which I forgot to remove...

However, once again, thanks for playing the game and sending a feedback. Hope you have enjoyed playing this game.
