"The Sacred Door" is a platformer in which you have to offer in sacrifice mini versions of yourself in death pits in order to open the sacred door & proceed to the next level.
- W key / Up arrow / Space key - Jump
- A key / Left arrow - Go left
- D key / Right arrow - Go right
- M key / X key - Action (use, accept)
- R key - Restart level
- Escape - Pause
Your goal is to find the exit. It will only open if you sacrifice enough mini versions of yourself in each death pits present on the level. Watch out because you can die by falling on spikes.
Play the bug-free version (https://www.dropbox.com/s/wqnorlsuoq7qpol/The%20Sacred%20Door-Default-1.0.0.4.zip) if you don't want to encounter those bugs.
- If you have many minions who follow you stacked up over a minion that you try to select, you may have difficulty getting him to follow you.
- In level 2, DO NOT PRESS "X"... It makes the game completely crash. I forgot an "if".
Done in < 30 hours. I couldn't participate all the 48 hours. I was sadly short on time to do proper levels design.

Lovely graphics! I included it in my GM48: Sacrifice compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/qZITVIm2pYI

Nice little game. Jumping around and collecting mini-blobs all works pretty well. Some of the jumps are a bit precise, though. It's also a little short, but that's understandable.
The graphics look really nice. i especially the background, even if I was disappointed that the waterfalls aren't animated. The rain effects are nice too. The sounds are also good. I like the jump and collection sounds, as well as the sound of the rain.

The waterfalls are animated in the bug-fixed version. :) I'm happy you enjoyed the game.

It amazes me to see how people can make such a polished game in just under 48h. Congratulations, the graphics are amazing! The sound is also excellent!
I guess your sacrifice (see what I did there?) was on gameplay, there wasn't much challenge and just a couple of levels.
I was reading the comments and got curious, what about the background?SubmittedKamikaze

Mmmyeah! I come from other sort of game jams in which you can use some premade assets. I used a premade background. I still had to modify it (make it x-tileable, remove clouds and make them move programatically) but it is based from an already existing background. I was short on time. I'm still happy with the result and what I've been able to accomplish in 30 hours.

Gathering multiple mini blebs was a little fiddly, and jumping over certain wide pits required some pretty precise platforming, but other than that this wasn't too shabby! Good use of theme. I question how blob ethics work though lol, if killing kids to unlock doors is the norm :P

I saw your game on tehwave's stream, but just now I had the opportunity to experience your game first hand. The visuals are nice and the ambience was of quietude, which is a little weird when you are sacrificing mini versions of the main character, but good nonetheless. Albeit too slow paced for a platform game, this game is interesting. Good job!

Nice concept and nice assets. Unfortunately, not much gameplay here. Also very short game.

Titties.exe is an awesome game with great art and fun gameplay, the basic idea connecting the game to the theme is also executed pretty well.
It's a shame that you'll get disqualified for the background though, because all the other sprites were awesome aswell, and the game had potential to get in the podium.

The game was a lot of fun. The "boing!" sound effect when you jumped was great. It made jumping more fun than it would normally have been. A shame, that there wasn't more to the game.
I didn't experience any bugs besides pause menu about kept on being visible when unpaused.

I had no problem using X in the second level? Aside that, I like the background, but as you know... yep you can't use already existing assets. In any case, the background lacks coherence compared to the rest (the style is way too different). I find the sounds too childish and the game a tad short, but considering you had less than 30 hours to do it, it's understandable. The game is also a bit slow. It takes some tedious time to move from points to others; a bit more speed would have helped (starting the level again because I hit the bottom of a block while jumping is a bit annoying, it would be less of a problem if it didn't take so long to get ther; talking about the one tile jumps)
Aside that, not bad!

Well put together. I like the art, especially the background. Only being able to have one blob following you at a time and having to run back and forth between them made the game feel a bit repetitive.
Edit: Oops. My bad! I must've been slightly out of position when I tried to get a second one.

Actually, you can have infinite blob following you... You just have to press x when over blobs to pick them. ^_^
