Oh No! You've Shipwrecked on the smallest island known to man! Worst of all, a bird stole your brand new Smartphone! Go find it.

CONTROLS: ---WASD to Move--- ---SPACE to Jump--- ---E to Interact---

Heads up you can double jump and wall jump. Hopefully that makes the levels slightly easier. Sorry about the Pond.

Pretty good :) Feel very prepared for when a bird steals my smartphone now.

My main feedback would bethat it could have used some sound effects! The music was good, but without the world making sounds it felt a bit flat. Also, the dialogue text was a bit slow, but that's a minor detail.

Levels were definitely challenging, but I enjoyed them! Good job :)

Thank you so much for the feedback. I'm very proud of what we accomplished, especially since one of our teammates had very little prior experience with gamemaker. thank you so much again and congratulations on this jam!

Quirky idea! The game seemed fairly easy at the start (in a good way), but the falling level hit me hard and ended up just being a trial and error situation to find the bottom (in a bad way). The frog level was similar and then it went back to easy for the last one.

Not bad though! And regarding "We are an aspiring, amateur group of friends who are just trying to make a game that doesn't totally suck." ... you succeeded!

I like the idea of this game. Chasing various animals to get a phone back is a pretty amusing concept. The transition between the overworld and platforming levels is cool too. The gameplay is decent, but the difficulty is a bit wonky. The last level is super easy after couple of rough ones. That aside, the art and music are both quite nice.

Thank you so much for your kind words about our game. I am really proud of our game and super happy with all the constructive criticism that we have been getting. Good luck on this jam!

Very odd difficulty curve. First level was long but easy, second and third levels were extremely frustrating, and the last one was the easiest 🤔

Thanks for playing! Yea, as said before, I forgot that my ease of play is different because I made the game and I know where everything is. This jam was kind of a good eye-opener for that and now I can look for that going forward. Good luck in the jam!

Alex said everything I was about to say.

I'd add that the lillypad weren't just too small, they also were really hard to see. I was only able to beat it because of the "walljump", by spamming jump.

Thanks for playing! And yea, the lily pads were a rush job in order to make the frog level stand out. Looking back we probably could have either taken them out or spent a bit more time on them, but hindsight is 20/20 eh? Again thanks for playing and good luck in the competition!

I finished it, thought it was pretty fun. The Frogs level was pretty difficult because the lily pads don't telegraph when they are about to change direction so it's super tough to time jumps. Then by comparison the final level is a piece of cake. I enjoyed the game though.

Thanks for playing it! Yea we added the moving platforms almost at the very end because we wanted to add something special to it, but then didn't change the last level because we wanted at least one easy level. good Luck!

Game wasn't that bad, dropping down the rabbit hole wasn't good as you didn't see where you tried to land, and collision are for spikes was too big. You didn't even need to touch them to lose, check collision mask in sprites for this. Graphics and music were fine. It was good that there was double jump to correct jumping midair, also I don't know was wall-jumping intented behaviour or not, but it helped.

Thanks for playing, yea we should have made the levels easier and probably introduced the wall-jumping/double-jumping mechanic more clearly. This was our first game together, and hopefully we can only go up. Good luck!!

When the overworld tree turned into a big platforming level, it was a fun surprise. The level was not bad either. But the burrow and lily pad pond levels were not enjoyable.

Platforming physics are not easy to get right, especially for beginners. In the burrow, the spike hitboxes were much too large, the view when falling was too short, and the maximum falling speed was much too high. The only way to beat the burrow level was to memorize the location of the platforms.

The lilypad level had ambitious moving platforms, but since the character did not stick to them, they were small platforms, they moved very fast, and the player was expected to leap from one to the other repeatedly, the level was almost unplayable.

Don't be afraid to make something a bit easier next time. The art and music were nice enough, even if not perfect. Focus on improving your level design and programming.

Thanks for playing!! And thanks for the feedback. I sometimes forget that my games are easier for me because I can see the whole level before I play. And the lily-pad level was an ambitious last minute decision to make it feel like each level had its own dynamic. I know we probably won’t win, but I’m glad that we made something that may improve next time. Again thanks for playing and good luck!

Cute little game! Got to the burrow, but after many attempts I quit, the spikes are a too unforgiving!

This is actually a very cool game! I like the idea of the overworld map and the different themed levels. There was a lot variety in it, every level has unique challenge and feel to it. So you succeeded where a lot of full time dev stuios don't :D Variety is key.

A few more soundeffects would be nice, also a small prompt telling you to press "E" or "Q" for accepting and declining (even tho you stated this in your controls screen). Also, I didn't realize I could wall jump, so it took me a while to figure the tree out x)

    Cool game, keep it up!

The frog level was brutal, btw. Haha!

Thanks so much! I had a lot of fun making it, and I'm very glad someone can appreciate it. :). I'll take into consideration the prompts to wall jump and e/q.

I have trouble on the frog level as well tbh.

Hey Guys! Thanks all for playing my game. I'm glad that I did this gm48, and I think we learned a lot from this experience. Hopefully, we'll do better next time round. Congrats to everybody who participated this competition. See ya!
