So this is the first game Jam I've participated in! Learned a lot and stressed a lot since I submitted it with a literal second before the deadline.

You can go full-screen by pressing alt+enter

You can restart on the game menu by pressing R but that should've been removed

The Coin counter in the text sequences is broken but I didn't have time to fix it before submitting. So don't feel bad when it says you didn't collect any coins.

Other than that, the only controls are the space-bar.

I hope you enjoy and thank you for playing.

Funny game. I included it in my GM48: Collect! compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/7cH9DVFtgzM

I'll add to the pile: it's was kinda hard to read the depth of the trees & rocks. And the jump was a little hard to judge.

But honestly this is a pretty good first jam game, it's not easy to manage the time and you still made something that felt pretty complete. Even if that's just with dialog, it did help keep me invested in the game.

Oh and I loved the "death" animation!

      Thank you for the feedback!

Definitely could've used more time management so for the future I'll plan ahead. I had a lot of plans for the game from the start but didn't realize how long it would take to implement them. Hopefully with some more experience I'll get a better game out in the same amount of time.

I'm thinking darker trees and lighter rocks could've helped highlight the hazards. Something I'll think about when making enemies from now on.

This was a joy to play. It might not have the best gameplay, and collecting coins might not matter (because the counter is broken), but I was engaged by the text between bits of gameplay. This game was funny, and I had a desire to do better every time it threw me into the game (even though the coin counter didn't ever increase).

In terms of the actual gameplay section, I do wish that the rocks were more visible. They looked like background objects to me and I immediately ran into the first one. Their hitbox also feels a little weird to me, like it's just a bit too big. Also, even though I enjoyed the death animation, it takes a very long time and is kind of frustrating to sit through after the 5th time.

Still, I wasn't really playing this game for the gameplay, and I want to congratulate you on such a great first game jam game. Mine certainly wasn't this good.

      Thanks for the review!

The game play is literally the chrome dinosaur game at a 30 degree angle... but with a slapped together story that I wrote very last minute.

I definitely think the rocks need to look more hazardous since they blend in so much or the trees could be less detailed.

I can't wait to do another game jam though, just wish I wasn't so busy on the weekend so I could put all 48 hours into this (minus sleeping...)

I think having a way to skip the dialogue between deaths would be nice, it felt long after a few runs.

Too bad if your name starts with (or contains) R, like mine - no way to actually start the game haha, but that's just a minor flaw that could be fixed easily (at first I didn't know that I should just randomly press buttons and I truly tried to put my name there), but yeah, pressing R restarts the game. These huge rocks would need to look more dangerous too - at first try I wanted to jump over the trees and when i died to the rock, I had no idea what happened. I love the commentary between tries. It always says "You missed 0 coins" - no matter how you do. Sometimes the coins are spawning on the rocks too, not sure if that's by design or you just overlooked. Gameplay is simplistic, but engaging enough. Death animation is a bit too long, but it's funny, so I guess that's fine too.

And I'm sorry if it sounds like I crticized the game too much, I really liked it!

Hey, I can't improve unless I get some criticism so thank you for the review!

I know now why the coin counter was broken in the narrator sequences but I did that part quite literally 15 minutes before the deadline so I didn't really get a chance to test it... oh well. I also should've given some sort of "continue" option after hitting a rock so the death animation is optional. I kind of added it in as a joke but it definitely takes a bit out of the pace of the game.

Maybe next gm48 I'll plan my time better...
