This game is really fun. The gameplay is super engaging and its super satisfying when you don’t make any mistakes. The learning curve is really sharp as you start to remember the combinations of words that can be thrown at you, which makes you want to keep on playing for hours as you get better and better. The music fits this game really well, with the pacing matching the games natural rhythm perfectly. The controls of the game are perfect with instant responses to each input, I could never get angry at the game because the mistakes were always my fault. Overall, I thought that it was really refreshing to see such an innovative game and I had a lot of fun playing it!

Really cool! I love how you interpreted the theme. The music is really catchy too! Shame I can't play it many times in a row because continuously writing fast makes my wrists light on fire... but that's not the game's fault, it's my bad writing ergonomy obviously. The enemies were really cute and I wish I had more time to look at them but of course you're busy typing all the time.

Great job, I liked this a lot!

It's a fun lil typing speed test, I'll say Music is good ^^ my only nitpick is that the timer should scale a bit based on sentence lengths

Typing combat system works suprisingly well, and the attacks you fight against are well designed in how they make you fill in the blanks. The art style of the characters is great and I like the hand drawn feel of them. The music is pretty good and fits the fast paced typing without throwing you off.

I feel like the time for that one line asking for water is way too short compared to the rest, but apart from that the game felt well balanced. I'm not that good at typing, and I still had fun. The music is great and the differents effects that blocks the view were a nice addition, making you slightly slower but not completely obscuring the view.

The description mentions escaping but that's not possible, is it? I think the difficulty level of this game is fairly well balanced, though the letters weren't really obscured enough to cause the intended difficulty in reading them I don't think. However, the game's unusual premise enhances its experience and overall it's a solid entry, though perhaps a bit weak on matching the theme since it presumably ends violently, though on the other hand, it is about trying to prevent the violence, so...

I have a deep fondness for this idea, having made a typing rhythm game before - different execution to this, but your interpretation of the idea here is wonderful!

Obviously, for the fact it's made in 48 hours, the main downside here for such an ambitious concept is lack of content - I cycled the music a couple of times in my playthrough (I think) and I got a lot of repeats on what to type. Not sure that I should be asking for a glass of water and asking where the bathroom is - those two things are at odds with each other xD

My highscore was 108,851, with 74 foes vanquished. It was the longer sentences that got me in the end, my words per minute were too small! 😔

Fantastic entry. I'd love to see you make more of this - the low-fi graphics, the funky music, the entertaining lines to type and the interesting variety of obstructions, and all 😄

This was the first typing game I had ever played, and I really liked it. The graphical effects and music made the gameplay (typing) feel in some way cooler. Also the pulsing in the rhythm with the music made the game beefier. Overall the game felt whole and surprisingly polished for a game jam game.

The only thing that felt weird was the images with so thin lines (for example in the start, and the enemies), when many other things seemed to have thicker lines (text, the things coming in its way etc) and that felt a little inconsistent. Also the timers felt sometimes too short for some longer texts, but that wasn't too common luckily.

I love typing games so this was a lot of fun for me! The phrases were entertaining and the idea to obscure them with stuff on screen is an interesting one. I like that it doens't penalize or make you backspace for typing a wrong key, it helps it feel like more of a fun casual typing experience, lol. In the end I got 108634 and 71 enemies avoided. Good job!

Played this game on my school's PC lol. I have to say, it's pretty fun! The typing window getting shorter and shorter as you progress, along with everything on the screen trying to block your view, really makes for a challenging arcadey gameplay. The art style, though simple, is pretty charmful too. Kinda reminds me of Undertale's battle screen. Great game!

I didn't know I could type so fast. The music kept me going while I typed out the phrases. Great job on the animations and different obstacles that get in the way of the phrases

I played two times and got exactly 107452 each time lol (70 enemies). Pretty fun for a typing game, though it seemed like the timer wasn't scaled based on the length of the phrase, so shorter phrases were easier to complete.

This is a snazzy typing game, I think it would be a fun educational game to teach people how to type faster, I like the competitive edge to it and the monochromatic style! I managed to get 104,791 :) good entry!

I got 79227 on my first try. Would be down to try this again when my hands stop hurting :))

Things I liked: (I've just noticed I'm now writing this review at lightspeed lol)

This was my first ever typing game, it felt really smooth and it was really challenging.

The graphics were really cool & considerate to the story.

This game has a very moreish gameplay, you feel motivated to keep trying again and again.

    Things I didn't like:

The music got repetetive and eventually starts to distract from the gameplay.

As an English teacher the lack of punctuation f**** me over a bit here as I kept trying to add apostrophes etc, it wouldn't work and then I'd lose track of which letter I was one because I broke my flow (maybe that was intentional to make it harder*).

I had a lot of fun with this. As soon as I saw the preview for this I instantly got Undertale vibes. I really like the use of simple visuals and vibing music, incredible and solid gameplay loop that really leans well in to GaameMaker's strengths. I also love the fact that this is a typing game: they are an incredibly rare variety and I very much enjoy seeing games delve into the possible mehcanics of the genere. My only critiques is that the first letter of the sentences don't require the use of shift even though they display as case, and the lack of feedback/punishment when you are typing wrong. Overall, well very done.

I like it a lot. I got 110490 (75 foes), the challenge was a good level, sfx great, visuals pretty nice. one suggestion would be to make the different time available for different length phrases more visually obvious, or to tweak that a bit. Also even HARDER visual obscurae at really hard levels, the typing speed got me in the end rather than not being able to see.

This game was the first game I played from this Jam, and honestly, it raised the bar for the others by quite a lot. The core gameplay loop is pretty simple, type the phrase before the timer runs out: but add the obstacles that obstruct your view, the cute sprites for the enemies, the vibrant animations, the simple, well-explained plot that makes it fit to the theme and the awesome soundtrack, this game is a ton of fun. I found myself trying again and again trying to beat my highscore, ultimately reaching 62 enemies avoided! I really like this game: well done team!
