You have five minutes to solve the combination to win!

I knew I was only going to have roughly 8 hours to dedicate to the jam this go around, so I really scaled it down on scope and came up with this little puzzle game. I tried to provide enough clues and context elements to solve it and hopefully people will have fun figuring it out!

This was also my first time using Studio 2 for a jam, last time I was still using Studio 1 - there's still a couple things that slow me down, but I think i'm getting used to using Studio 2 full time now.

I made a follow up guide to explain all the hints and clues from Logic Contains spoiler for the solution https://doublesquarellc.com/logic-all-clues-and-hints-explained-spoilers-for-my-gm48-game/

Clues are generally a bit too subject to interpretation. For example, the “It began with 2 days and ended with a week” is very confusing when reading your explaination:

The solution starts with 48 (hours in 2 days) and ends with 7 (days in a week) Well why would we even assume it's about hours? We assume you're talking about days only. The 7 was obvious, the 48 wasn't. I just assumed I had to choose 2 on the first digit cause I had no way to interpret it differently.

    “The smallest is the smallest”

Another reference to the physical size, the 2 (3rd digit) is the smallest size ... how is it the "smallest" that is the "smallest"? Aren't you just saying 2 is the smallest number? Cause I mean... that only makes it more confusing. I was assuming the smallest digit was the smallest number. (like, the first digit was 2)

I mean, all in all, it had kind of sense, but we're getting more and more mixed messages that seem to contradict the solution. We're left to assume and most of the times, we're like "wait what...?" when a clue is dropped. They all try to push you to the same direction, but in the end, some tend to leave you just confused.

When looking at it after completing it, some clues are really, really well thought and with the right level of crypticism (if that is even a word), like “What is the reason for my creation”. But some are weird obstacles. It's neat that you have so many hints to give, it's just too bad they didn't feel exactly good most of the time. Especially since they are free of interpretation.

Wow, thanks for the detailed feedback, I appreciate you taking the time to help!

From watching the streams and some of my friends playing, I definitely didn't think about the alternative ways that people were going to interpret the clues as I had written them, there were constantly things I hadn't thought of until I saw the way people were interacting with it.

It was more that I was just throwing everything in without really taking time to consider the potential other interpretations, I was just trying my best to actually have something complete to turn in this time around due to a really busy weekend schedule.

Challenging game! I included it in my GM48: Countdown compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/WM7q7yEUpUY

Very cool! I reminded me of Safe Crackers from the Price is Right. I figured out some of the numbers from the clues, but I had to look at the solution on your site for the actual answer. A problem I had was that I was taking "one" to mean the actual number 1 sometimes. The "2 and 4 are neighbors" I took as literally the numbers 2 and 4 being next to each other. Only suggestion I have would be to highlight a number if it's in the correct position, so you know how many you have correct after pressing submit.

I really like the use of time limited clues (that repeat), it make me feel less like I was stuck because I had misinterpreted a clue, because I could ignore it and try a different angle.

Ok so I had 4287 and I gave up :(. Honestly some of the clues were more confusing that anything, mainly because it was subject to interpretation, and some clues were used like 2 or 3 levels after the other ("the smallest is the smallest" for example means nothing until you have the solution, but if you want to start with it, it means that there's a 0 somewhere).

Anyway, it's still a pretty cool game

I watched Problematicar fail at this on stream, then closed his stream so I wouldn't get spoiled on the solution.

Then I eventually played this and found the solution in less than a minute. 😂

Thanks to Tehwave I was able to win, but honestly I didn't get most of the hints, that's probably just me being dumb.

The ones i got were pretty clever though, and the idea wasn't that bad for the theme, it lacked content but was an ok game, I guess.

I figured it out before @Problematicar did. I really liked this game for that. Thanks!

Nice but a bit too short. I don't know if the sentences that shows sometimes are kind of clues but I didn't have to use them to complete the game. The graphics are minimalist and really nice. The game is not long but it is clean and complete. I liked it.
