Chromatic Chaos! Wield the power of COLOR to destroy your foes!
We really liked the "Level Builder theme that didn't make it to Round2, so we decided to do a combination!
Customize your own experience! We had a blast working on this and can't wait for you to play it!
- Level Customization on the fly!
- Choose your own Victory Condition. Whether it be ENDLESS mode, or Kill a number of enemies, or Survive for a certain time.
- Place walls and barriers to create unique play experiences every time.
- Control the Direction, the Rate, and the Magnitude of enemies that Spawn!
How to play:
- WASD to Move.
- Aim with the Mouse (Character(s) face mouse)
- Left click to Attack
- Right Click for Special Attack.
- Press Tab, or use the ScrollWheel on your mouse to phase though different colors.
You control your Wizard (or multiple if you place them on the screen), and you must use Colors to defeat your foes. This follows a "Rock, Paper, Scissors" idea. Red beats Green, Green beats Blue, and Blue beats Red. White/Grey gives no special powers, whereas hitting a colored Enemy with the correct color deals 2x damage per hit, and hitting and enemy with the wrong color only deals 20% damage.

Nice game! I included it in my GM48: Colors are Important compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/pzo4of_gRdw

Really neat idea! Main things I would change is making the "tutorial" a bit more concise/laid out in a way that makes it easier to read, and the fact that the white character is super over-powered (beat the whole game without swapping after I realized this). Good job though, the general idea is really great!

Thanks for your feedback! I agree 100%. When I completed the "tutorial" I was on the verge of removing it, but I felt like it was better to provide too much information than none at all. A step-by-step tutorial, that would be optional would be ideal. Definitely including this earlier in the planning phase next time.
About 3/4 of the way through, I wanted to at least add the option to disable the "white" or uncolored variants, but that feature was a casualty of time!
Thanks again for playing, rating, and leaving us feedback!

I love this! You can get pretty absorbed in it, trying new combinations every time, or go full ape-sh*t with the enemies, or create a vortex of death with 10 wizards...I had a lot of fun!
Also, building layouts with the walls was cool, reminded me of my old RPG-Maker days :D
Keep polishing it, I think there might be a huge opportunity waiting in this foundation!

Outstanding! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I felt like we had something good going when I "wasted" a good half hour just building a sweet map, setting my spawn from the Left(West) and then having a massive brawl.
Thanks for giving us a shot, and leaving your feedback!

Here are a few things that I would change about your game:
- Don't mix pixelart of different resolutions (mixels), it tends to look not particularly nice.
- Explain the gameplay mechanics in small, easily digestable steps, and NEVER with ten billion boxes of text :D (The player will be overwhelmed and forget most of the things teached!)
- You can make your sound effects a bit less repetitive by changing the pitch just a tiny amount every time you play a sound.
- I would make the enemy damage sounds a bit less impulsive / jarring in the ear. The game was quite loud and my ears didn't really enjoy the experience that much.
- I'd make different sounds for the different kinds of attacks, so you can not only visually differentiate between the different colors, but also with your ears.
Good luck with your submission! ❤

Thanks for playing, and providing feedback!
- We didn't mix pixel art at all, everything was designed 16x16, with a similar style and color palette, so I don't understand this portion of your feedback.
- Our "Tutorial" was rapidly cobbled together, and it is a barrage of information. Very good point, we had many of our friends say the same thing!
- Your suggestion on sound is excellent! Usually sound gets scrapped as we hardly have time to add it in towards the end, but I really like your input here. Great idea!
- Sorry we hurt your ears. I meant to add in a volume option, so you can control the volume, but we ran out of time.
- Our original plan was to make sound variants, however it took longer than I anticipated to get some gameplay functions working, so we cobbled together sound in about 30 minutes prior to release. Perhaps we'll try something different next time, and get sound completed first.
Thanks again for your feedback, I really appreciate it!

Pretty cool tool, fun to mess around with! The color theme feels much less pronounced than the level builder though!

A fair observation! One of the options I wanted to add in was the option of removing the "white" or uncolored variants, so that you were forced to use colors, however I was already really far along when I wanted to do that, so I added that to the "If we have time" list, which of course was scrapped to make the game playable. Glad you got some enjoyment out of it, and thanks for rating and providing feedback!

I'm impressed with how much you accomplished. The artwork is really solid and all the stats really helps customize the game. The scythe seems to not go through one block gaps and neither do enemies so maybe finding a way for this scenario not to play out would help balance the game. This didn't really hold back the game I just want to give good criticism. Well done
