Hello and greetings new OVERDRIVE warp force pilot! We need you to deliver an urgent message to command. You'll have to fly through enemy territory to do so.
This mission is impossible. The enemy is endless.
Yet the task at hand is far too critical to be ignored.
Just see how far you can get before the OVERDRIVE engine explodes, and take down as much of the enemy as you can.

TIMER: Decreases over time. Getting hit decreases time. Destroying enemies gives you time.
SHOOT: Holding button increases spread. Burst fire on initial shots. Not firing will quickly 'reload' burst shots.
OVERDRIVE: Greatly increases distance gained. Increases enemy speed. Decreases bullet speed. Increases timer speed.
NOTE FROM RCDv57: My Highscore is 11667. Try to beat it you cowards.

Very intense game! I included it in my GM48: Countdown compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/XYwEvzCa2b4

There is waaaay too much stuff going on. Too much stuff flying. Actually, it would be fine if it weren't for their colors. The background could benefit from contrasting less with the foreground. For example, adding a blue transparent layer could help separating the foreground to the background. In terms of visibility, it's hard to play. Might have too many sounds going on at once, it gets saturated.
Aside that, it's pretty juicy! There are lots of feedback when damaging and killing enemies, which is something that tends to lack in games, so you covered that! But maybe a bit too much.
Fun, but excessive and kinda repetitive (we tend to see the same enemies on the screen at once)

This is a good example of "too much effects". I guess it goes with the overdrive idea, but it really hurts the game, especially all that shaking. It actually started hurting my head. It's also
TOO FRIGGIN LOUD!
Also, there's too much happening at once. At first it's just disorienting, and when you understand what's happening, you're basically immortal. There's always so many ennemies at once that you can just keep shooting and don't even bother avoiding damage, since you're killing so much stuff your timer never goes down.
It's a shame because with a little tweaking this could be very good.

So the aesthetic is really interesting, I think with some polish it could look really amazing, the amount of shaking was a bit over top though. The audio was pretty good but I think the sound effects were too loud in comparison to the background music and maybe the explosion sound needs some sort of pitch variation? Not sure about that. No issues with how the game controls.
Although the game is endless, I think it could do with a little more structure rather than everything been thrown out at once all the time. The craziness was quite amusing in a way, But it does drag on a bit after a while
It had a lot of little touches like the flickering of the menus, the voice and the CRT like effect that made it feel nice. Good job on the game.

Thanks you for your kind words!
This was my first time putting sounds into a project, and I did really mess them up. More than a little bit. Especially audio balancing. At least I know a bit more for next time!
Really glad to hear that you enjoyed the title screen voice. I am extremely happy about how that turned out, as I believe that a good title screen has a huge impact.
