I played it for some time and I think this game should have auto-shooting :D That is why laser was best weapon too. Now I beat the boss twice, but I don''t think there was nothing else to game? I liked the boss design, but it was easiest robot with its huge hitbox but also projectiles were easy to avoid. I liked the idea you were going for this game, but on some parts the execution was bit lacking. But I think more experience you get, better at those things you become :)

Thanks for playing and for leaving feedback. I appreciate it.
There isn't anymore to the game after beating the boss. It just continually loops. It's more a go for the highscore type thing although that isn't even possible since you can't actually die due to a bug haha.
Unfortunately I had less than 24 hours to work on the game and I spent most of that time on the sprites (specifically the boss). By the time I was done I didn't even get to test it. I had literally a minute left to publish and that was with the extra submission time too haha. So there is a lot I would've liked to have improved. Auto-shooting is definitely something I would've gone with. The boss would've had more HP and attacked more frequently too. I also wanted him to fly into the background, where he couldn't be hurt, and have him attack you from there for a while but I didn't manage to get as far as that.
Next time I'm hoping to have the full weekend to work on my game and also I won't choose to do something where the theme is tied into my sprites since that would make me lose a lot of time again haha. In the meantime though I may give myself another day to work on this game though and just see how far I could've gotten with the extra time.

Nifty idea, and there are a lot of ways you could take this. Moving enemies, enemies that fully transform as they take damage and change their tactics, etc.

Thanks for the feedback. Moving enemies was part of the plan but I didn't get round to it. I do like the idea of enemies changing tactics as they become more damaged, and transforming enemies too.
There is actually some change in the boss that occurs when he takes damage. He actually has 4 phases currently (First is bullets that are directed at the player, second is bullets in a 360° pattern, third is homing missiles and fourth is laser beams from above) and after you damage him enough to take out the red missile launchers on his back, he can only perform the first 2 bullet phases from that point on.
I'm guessing very few people have seen the last 2 phases since you can destroy him by the time he begins the second phase, so it's a change in his pattern that has likely gone unnoticed by most, if not all, players haha.

I like the different weapon types. Sprites are great, I like the Quickman looking player sprite and the breaking apart of robots is great.

Nice sprites, some cool powerups too! I only wish the health powerup restored more lol! Good work!

Thanks for the feedback. There is a hidden health powerup. To unlock it, let your health go all the way down to 1. Do that and you become immortal and the bullets and missiles can no longer hit you.....ok it might be more of a bug than a powerup lol.
But yeah I didnt get to mess with the amounts that the health and ammo pickups give you before time ran out so they both give a very low amount unfortunately.

Big megaman energy, I love it. I would have liked to see at least one enemy that chases you a bit maybe because I felt like there was little reason to keep moving. Shooting these robots apart was super satsifying though. Watching them fall apart as you shoot is very fun. The boss fight caught me off guard but was very cool!
Overal very fun I'd love to see more of this.

Amazing character sprite work in this game! I loved how the enemies fell apart, and the powerups were great :)
My only complaint was due to my clicky keyboard, kinda just wish there were an option for left clicking to fire so I'm not slamming my spacebar repeatedly, haha. But I had lots of fun! Good job.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad you liked the sprites. Sorry about the keyboard haha. I can imagine how annoying it wouldve been with a mechanical keyboard. I didnt really consider that but will keep that in mind if i do something similar in future.

Great arcade shooter. The mechon are very detailed in how they fall apart, with multiple layers underneath all of their armor. Clearly a lot of time was spent on the robot sprites. The weapons are great fun to switch around; my favorite is definitely the laser beam. The sound effects are great and add to that retro shooter feel. Great work! If given more time, I'd love to see it turned into a full-length game.

Thank you for the feedback. I'm not sure I'll be turning this into a full length game but I'd like to give myself an extra day to work on it to see what I could've achieved. I think I could've had something more entertaining and functional with a little extra time.

I like what you've got here, I feel as though you have the great foundations made here and it needs some expanding if you plan on continuing it outside of the jam. But the framework for a fun shooter is here and I like what you've done so far. You've put some great effort in to the art of the enemies and character, I would have liked to have seen a background and walls/tiles but I understand when you're against the clock it can be hard to put that in as well - overall though, nice entry, good job!

Thank you for the feedback. There is certainly alot more I'd like to have done. I'm not sure I plan on making this a full fledged game however I'm considering giving myself an extra day to work on this to see how far I could've gotten. In the end I'm glad I got something with some sort of gameplay but I would like to see if I could get closer to what I was aiming for with just a little extra time.

Hi Jackaroo. Thanks for your feedback. Sorry it took a little while to get back to you as I was playing your game (lol).
Ok. I loved the spreadshot the spreadshot is king here. That reminded me of the spreadshot from probotector. I was a little disappointed that it ran out (as it was my favourite power up).
I did actually end up playing this for longer than I was hoping to. I wanted to see if I could kill all the enemies and get a sense of "accomplishment" from killing them all before I realised they respawn back in. Still carried on blasting things though (I like 2d shooters).
I like how you can hold the button down for continuous fire but it runs out really really fast.
I like how the enemies flash and the parts of them fall off so you can see how much damage you're doing.
The walls looked a little basic but I can understand that.
The enemies don't move around which can make them appear a little static so a little movement there could really bring things to life more.
Hope that helps and thanks!

Thanks for your feedback Rewdan.
I had planned on adding/changing a lot of the stuff you mentioned but ran out of time. I'm glad you liked the spreadshot and I did have probotector in mind when adding it. Unfortunately the ammo for each weapon was added in with minutes to spare so I didn't manage to check and see if you got a decent amount of time with each one before submitting. I would've liked to have things like the Laser last a bit longer.
Things like moving enemies were part of my plan as well (in particular the green flying enemy) but I drained most of my time spriting the enemies and boss. I'm no artist but thought I could manage my time better with the graphics. Lesson learnt though and next time I'll be sure to get the gameplay down before everything else.
Thanks again for leaving some feedback, I appreciate all your comments.

Really cool game. There are some features that don't seem to work as intended but overall it is satisfying to see the enemies losing parts and the boss appearing was awesome. The big missile attacks and boss attacks worked well because they were dodgable but the smaller bullets got a bit messy. I would suggest maybe make something that you have to defend and have the other robots aiming for that.
P.S. Laser beam is the best

Thank you for the feedback. There was a lot I would've liked to have improved upon or changed but I spent a bit too much time on the graphics for the enemies and boss. I'm no artist so they took me quite a while and left me with little time to refine the gameplay. I may go back and make some changes following the Jam though and I'll keep your suggestion of having something to defend in mind as I do like that idea. Thanks again.
