It was more entertaining than I expected ^^ I like the music of choice, gave the right feeling and urgeancy, though I think you can only use assets from Yoyogames marketplace. I also liked how ship had explosions, making level gameplay more interesting. Also good that you gave danger indicating before explosion. Unluckily I died on pretty far in the game (music didn't loop, it had ended long time ago), and as death restarts all way to the beginning, I quit and didn't see if there was an ending.

Hello! I got round to playing this (yay!).

I liked the character with the little ciggy. Reminds me of me. I played with the controller and found the gameplay was really fun. I loved that powerup that makes your gun go like a machine gun. "B-b-b-b-b-b-boom!"

The only things that I could mention are:

    • Running out of ammo but there's still the sword! Whew.
    • Enemies can shoot you off screen.
    • There was a bug where I killed the enemies but the door never opened at one point.

Overall though I really liked the music/gameplay and it felt satisfying taking some names! There was good feedback to player input which was great.

    Nicely done.

That sword is the absolute best. On the run where I finished the game I didn't fire a single bullet. I just slashed away at everything and upped my defence everytime I gained a level.

Graphics are rather simple but also really fitting. I like the setting and parts of the ship constantly blowing up was great, especially with the controller vibration added in. That was a great touch and getting feedback from every explosion or enemy killed just added to the experience.

As I said, I didn't use the shooting at all on the playthrough where I finished the game. Part of that was just how fun the sword was to use but also because I just felt the shooting was a little awkward. I kind of feel like maybe aiming with the right analog stick and then holding down the right trigger to shoot would've been better as I would often go to fire and find my shots slightly off. It's likely because I was pushing the analog stick slightly off but there was no way for me to know that beforehand. I think you could then map the sword to the left trigger and that way you could use both the sword and gun in a better rhythm. As it is now you have to take your thumb away from the analog stick to use the sword and I think it just would've worked better if I could've kept my thumb on the analog stick and used one of the triggers to use the sword.

However I thoroughly enjoyed playing through the game and would love to see more in the future. Great entry!

EDIT: I forgot, I did encounter an error at one point. The purple enemy that shoots at you had just fired a shot at me as I killed a grey enemy and levelled up. Straight after that this error appeared:

############################################################################################ ERROR in action number 1 of Step Event0 for object Robot2_bullet:

Unable to find any instance for object index '31' name 'Player' at gml_Object_Robot2_bullet_Step_0 ############################################################################################ gml_Object_Robot2_bullet_Step_0 (line -1)

Thanks, glad you had fun playing it. Shame about the error, I confirmed that it occurs when the player levels up while the robot 2's projectile is on screen.

The pacing of the game is technically just perfect. The game also fits the theme very well. It was pretty fun to play :D

Well done game! Theme was spot on and the game was really fun. Felt very roguelike or rpgish with the leveling system/upgrades and the pace was awesome!

Oh wow, this is tons of fun! Fast-paced gameplay, well-animated sprites, great music & sound effects, and brilliant use of theme. Very well done!

This game is pretty cool, my only issue is that there are a few game-crashing bugs, such as killing the pink enemy.

Thanks, glad you like it. Unfortunately I didn't notice the bug until just after uploading. It happens when the pink robot's projectile is on screen while the player levels up.

    Yo whats up chris.

Played your game, pretty fun dual stick shooter. I played with the game-pad as it was recommended (also I will alway play with the gamepad if it's supported.)

It was high energy and fun.

I’m gonna be listing issues I had but know this is for future improvement more so then real complaints. But before that lets start with the things I liked.

    • The setting and level design fitted the theme nicely, Good Idea!

    • The game’s pace was quick and the controls felt responsive!

    Now only to the improvements

    • I think you could of put a bit more work into the art, But pretty much all of us can stand to improve the art, video is half of video game after all so It’s important to improve, or find someone who can help by finding someone to do the things you're too busy for.

    • While I do think the controls felt good, the layout could use some work. Seeing how you prefer the game pad, I would think you would map the sword/attack button to one of the shoulders buttons, that way the player never needs to remove their thumb from the stick to shoot. Also I don’t think the stick should shoot as well as aim. In a game about managing weapon durability, being able to aim before firing would be nice. That way I’m not wasting ammo and what not.

That's pretty much it, any other complaint I can think of wasn’t important enough to remember, and I forgot it while typing lol.

Keep up the good work, and I look forward to seeing you improve!

Cool game! Any game with swords is a cool game, haha.

Was a little lost at the beginning because the text that (I assume) says "Press Right Mouse Button" was mostly obscured off the screen - but I figured it out eventually :)

I loved the variety of enemies and of course... the sword!
