You two lovebirds don't fall apart, ok?
(Clever, we know.)
Respond to your s/o's messages by choosing available cards.
Not sure what one does? There are some helpful indicators available to you.
1) HEART'O'METER- indicates the status of your relationship.
- The uglier the heart, the worse you are doing! You are supposed to fix it not make it worse, right?
2) STRESS - This icon shows how emotional you are feeling in the current situation.
- Conversations like this one make people anxious, so make sure to pay attention, being under a lot of stress leads to poor decision making.
3) CARDS - different types have different effects, some cards are perfect for certain situations.
- Pay attention to predicted effects listed on the card and take a moment to think about your choices!
4) EMOJIS - best way of conveying emotions via internet.
- Your s/o's emotions will be expressed by changing emojis, so watch out and beware the angry face.

This is a cool concept and a good use of theme. It could use a lot more fleshing out but whats here is a good start. I think some more card types would be good in the future as well as perhaps adding in another mechanic or 2 aside from the cards that could also help you out in the relationship. It certainly would need a lot more dialogue options in the future too. What you have here is great for having been done in 48 hours but it does get reptitive pretty quick with the same dialogue popping up frequently. I do like being able to choose your profile picture at the start though.
I don't think I was that great at preventing the relationship from falling apart. I Kept losing at about 20 messages. But I do really like the idea and I think with some improvements here and there, this could be a really fun game.

Pretty interesting game, The detail on the UI helps make an otherwise text based game more appalling to look at. The color palette could have been a bit more interesting to look at but its what it is.
I played for a bit, and I don’t know if I was just lucky or busted the game, but I kept getting the same sets of cards with the same effect level, I think I got like 7 max effect funnys in a row in the same slot?
After a while sitting at max and realizing the game wasn’t going to end, I tried to go and ruin the relationship, and the game fought me on it, I went out of my way to choose the worst cards I had and it still succeeded over half the time.
I think I got to like 107 or something before it was game over. Any ways you executed this simple concept very well, my only real complaint is that there is no scoreboard system or good ending to make me want to play longer, it got kinda boring quickly. Maybe having more than one good response to each thing? That or have events that could give bonuses or debuffs based on what you say?
TLDR Neat game, well executed, got board playing it too long. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback!
The situation you mentioned is something I ended up catching way too late. I tried to play test as much as possible and tried to make sure it would end on average at around turn 15/20. Problem is that we both grossly underestimated the amount of time and work it takes to balance even a seemingly simple game like this. The first 3ish turns completely dictate the flow of the game. Meaning that if it goes as designed you'll spiral downwards and eventually lose. But it seems like most people are better at it than expected and make the game spiral upwards instead. Making it increasingly difficult to loose. Doesn't help that the high end options are really not that interesting to make either.
We gave it a shot, experimented and learned a lot.
Glad you still got some enjoyment out of it ^^

Three times I played and three times my relationship fell apart!
Great concept. I love the originality in both the game and some of the lines. It was pretty funny, I really enjoyed it :)

Played a few rounds of this - super neat concept! Hoping for more dialog and card options in the future as well, as well as more fun icons :)
Great job!

Glad you enjoyed it! Honestly we were a bit anxious if this concept was even worth exploring in the first place. After getting feedback like this we will definitely be making a post jam version. ^^

No need to be anxious - this is all about exploring ideas, I think!
For 48 hours, you nailed it and you should be super proud :)

This is a really unique concept and interesting take on the theme - I think it's a clever idea with some funny moments in there too. I would say, if you plan on working on this further after the jam, I'd love to see more dialogue options, cards etc. This is a great foundation with some fun mechanics, I like it!
