MC lil Mac has only got "one shot" to make it in this rap game. It's either going to be him or his mom's spaghetti.

Play as Lil Mac's brain as you select the appropriate "freestyle" flows under the pressure of a real life rap battle.

Big thanks to Andy Tholberg for creating the music for this project and MC Willie Loaf for helping us fill out that last minute dialog tree.

Retry at the end with random bonus beats.

Funny idea! I included it in my compilation video series of all of the games from the GM48, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/hQAzb_hhkk0

Awesome idea, and I enjoyed it, but the game felt too unfinished :(

There's the random picks, but what confused me the most was that sometimes the timer will finish at the same time as the lyrics at the top. Also you can pick every answer at once, and at the end it doesn't seem to refresh.

I like the concept, but the execution falls a bit flat. The main issue is that correct options seem completely arbitrary. There's little way to tell which diss is right and a lot of the time the correct lyrics don't even rhyme. The beat is pretty cool, though.

Black text on dark background: Super bad for readability.

EDIT: Yes, I was using the browser. Usually I check if the description mentions anything before playing it

Picking the right answer is a bit too confusing sometimes, but I like that there are so many options and all that text.

Did you play it in the browser? For some reason in the HTML5 export that intro text is black. This is the first time we've tried using the export and there were a couple of things where it just kinda decided it was gonna do something different.

Thanks for checking out the game!

Solid concept for a game, but could've used a lot more polish and some indication of which was the right answer.

Came for the memes, stayed for the sick beat, left for the bugs.

This is really sweet idea and nice use of theme! The music and the art was sweet too! I couldn't ever tell what the correct response was for the dis parts, so I pretty much got moms spaghetti all over myself ;D ha! But i could just select all the responses and eventually get the right one. But overall nice job!

Neat take on the one shot idea. I enjoyed the music based gameplay. Certainly made me laugh with some of the lyric options. I was a bit confused when making my selections as to what were the "right" answers, especially with the disses but I had fun. Nice character designs and beats :)

      Awesome, thanks for the reply!

We didn't go through and make sure what we had in mind for the right and wrong answers each line where implemented, so basically it is just completely random as it is. They are hard coded in so it will be the same on every play but there were lines where we wanted to have the right answer be something specific and didn't have time to go back and make it that.

The graphical style is an awesome tribute to Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. Anyone who has played that game will get a big-time nostalgic kick out of this. The beats in the main game are excellent too! I was tapping my foot while thinking of what to say. I also was pleasantly surprised that there is more than one song! I liked the urban street feeling of the main battle screen. When you're done rapping, I feel like you could record it and sell tapes out of the trunk of that car. It was unclear to me what exactly was happening when I clicked a button. Sometimes the cursor is a circle, sometimes it's an X, and it seems to take a little time to appear after the click.
