This is GolfingDay, your daily reminder that golfing is important.
Get as close as you can to the hole in only one strike.
Every 12 hours, a new hole is generated, same one for everybody. Be sure to come back and improve you score.
Features :
- an online leaderboard ! stay connected to the internet, who knows what could happen if you're not D: !
- no sound ! Spent a crazy amount of time trying to make everything work behind the scenes, and not enough time on making the game proper. So yeah, it's pretty basic.
- unlimited practice ! be sure to check it out before trying the real course

Super challenging game! I included it in my compilation video series of all of the games from the GM48, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/hQAzb_hhkk0

It's a shame there isn't a rating for "programming" as I would rate this highly for your ability to get the online leaderboard and the hourly unlock functionality working so well in 48 hours.
As a complete game for this jam, there are obviously some areas that took a back seat though. No sound :( The graphics were pretty basic. The gameplay could have been refined more too.
I like the idea of being able to score points beside just sinking the ball (reminded me of quidditch oddly enough). I think it could be expanded upon, things like score multiplier gates (if you get the ball through), speed ramps (to keep the ball going), even multiballs? Basically a lot of things a good pinball game does. These things would really add to the strategy and focus the game on score chasing.
Speaking of scores, I'm number 3! I think that's down to playing 32 holes rather then my golfing ability :)

Yeah, and as it is, getting a good score can be pretty random :)
Thanks for the feedback! That's some good indeas indeed, sadly I couldn't fit any more line of code in the deadline (like, I wanted to cancel an aim with right click if you clicked by accident, but oh well)

This is a really cool idea and it all works well. It's pretty impressive how you managed to get an online leaderboard and a new hole system working. The actual gameplay isn't super exciting but I think the clever concept makes up it for. Unfortunately, the presentation is fairly lacking and some of the text seems to go off the screen.

Pretty cool idea! And impressed with the online functions too!
I encountered a bug when i went to the leader board screen. I forgot to copy and paste it and now it doesnt happen again. Something to do with a "string".
Nice job!

Solid ideas all around. Definitely one of the most intriguing full ideas of the jam. With another few hours on art and sound, this will be a lot of fun.

Holy macaroni, didn't expect online leaderboards from a jam game, too bad I sucked so much at it.
But the idea was great, perfect way to put a spin on the theme, and you did it by bringing a multiplayer aspect to it aswell, so many layers of theme connection, hole in one, with just one try, and one new hole each day.
Lack of music and good art or good physics were a negative, but honestly who cares, the idea is the whole point of this game and i love it.

Thanks ! Glad you liked the idea :)
Yeah! who cares about art, that's what I've always said... :p I would have loved to have more time to polish everything, but as a proof of concept I'm rather happy with what I got.

This is such a great idea, really cool to see an online competitive system like this in a 48 hour jam. Having only one chance to lock in your total score is a good use of the theme.
I'm going to try and stay on top of the high scores till the end of the jam!

Thanks :D
full disclosure : since I'm using gamejolt API and every score is submitted as a guest I can't say "this person already submitted a score, so overwrite the previous one", so you'll see your previous score in the top if you play again :D
I'm deleting previous ones to keep the leaderboard varied, at least for the jam

I like the idea of a new hole added each day! Not sure it's so relevant for a jam, but I guess it's an idea. Also I like how the goal is to get as close as possible to the hole rather than necessarily being in it. Since... you know, we only have one shot.
Too bad for the lack of sounds... Also, visually it's... not the best. The issue being mostly, imo, the choice of colors. Not very pleasing for the eyes :T

Yeah I had WIP random colors/sprites until the end and I barely had the time to try and make everything a little more readable :/

This is such a neat game! Why hasn't this been done before? Daily challenge golfing! You need to turn this into a full game and make billions.

It's kinda inspired by desert golfing, because at first I thought the game added a new hole each day @_@

Really cool that you were able to implement an online score system in 48hrs. The idea of new holes every so often is great. Not sure if there is a procedural map generator under the hood, but if so, I am impressed.
Wish it had sound and the graphics were a touch better. Also the shutterstock lines on the thumbnail image ;)

Thanks, yeah levels are procedurally generated. Like leaderboards, I've never done this before so I spent quite a lot of time on that, hence the lack of pretty much anything else :D
I had no idea for the thumbnail, so I went for ridiculous mashup with stock photo :p
