Tortoises may seem impossible to beat, but trying to push back on them while they walk can defeat them!

Bunch of small things that made a bad first impression:

    • The text on the title screen
    • The difference between the BGM volume: and the SFX volume:

Now, what did a really good impression though is the art, everything is so cute!

But I'd say the game lacks various feedback. Like, the first time I died I wasn't even sure I could take damage in the first place. I know I need to protect the polygons, but I haven't seen any critter attack those. I've seen a bunch hanging around the polygons but they seemed more interested in attacking me. And I didn't know either if I was supposed to keep running around or it enemies spawned in waves or what. If I stayed at the same spot they'd keep spawning there, but I also found enemies every time I moved. And the issue is that I didn't know what to prioritize since I didn't really know how dangerous each enemy was. In ended up just running back and forth without really thinking about it.

I really think the game needs some kind of indicator of what's happening outside of your view. But maybe that just because I'm bad and kept dying in less than 2 minutes :(

Gameboy aesthetics are great, gameplay not so much, and again short music loops are meh (at least it's not grating). Not really interesting enough to compel me to play for long. 2.027 was my longest time score out of about 7 minutes of playing.

I thought it was great that the player could ride tortoises but I was dissapointed when I realized that I had to kill them for the good of the polygons

That enemy design lol. I love the umbrellas :D Gameplay is fairly simple but that's ok - moving side to side to keep an eye on both sides keeps you busy.

Also, I saw that ladder... ...I hope it is what I think it is!

Most of what I wanted to say is covered by dosto's feedback.

Really nice, consistent art style! The Gameboy style is very nostalgic :)

It took me over 20 minutes to realize there was a second polygon XD Before that, I was very confused why I was 'dying for no reason', oops! Also, the world should block the player from going off the edge, instead of restarting the level, perhaps?

Having your shot on a timer was an interesting choice. It seemed to take your mind off the shooting a bit, and let you focus on moving around (though there were occasion where I wanted more control over shooting) But it was good choice overall.

Since the wahoogons are so far apart, it might have been nice if you could lay out traps (up to a limit?), and when they went off, you got some small indication of whether it was a trap to the left or right of you (like a warning system).

The music loop was tad too short, but as I played the game, I noticed it less, somehow, heh (too busy protecting mah wahoogons!)

    Nice entry!

PS. I uploaded a video of my playthrough For some reason my recording shut off in the middle of gameplay, so some footage was lost, sorry!

    Great things

    • art: especially the animal characters (especially the tortoise)
    • overall visual consistency
    • background music: suited well with the game feel
    • gameplay
    • automatic shooting was good choice for this kind of game

    Looking out for future improvements

    • balance between music and sounds: at least with my poor laptop speakers, the sound effects were way too loud compared to the bg music
    • sometimes dying came as surprise. I think it usually was a snake slithering behind the bush or bullet going through the leaves but it was a bit frustrating not to know what ended my run. Maybe a quick fading of the object which would reveal the killer hiding behind it or something like that? At least not anything long since being able to start fast after defeat was good.

Edit: after reading other comments, it seems that you weren't even able to die colliding with enemies? Haha, I just jumped around avoiding them like a maniac.

Cute game, really enjoyed the art! The character was adorable. Polygons reminded me of your last game too.

Cute little game, I loved the worms with umbrellas xD

I spent perhaps an embarrassing amount of time thinking I was making progress in levels by walking to the left continuously - only realised once the timer was resetting that counted as a death 😅 Also found out through that that if I kept holding left after doing this, I could dodge the fish altogether and just run around defencelessly!

I like the music, and theart is interesting. The biggest problem I see is just that it's not really very clear what's going on. Maybe having some more definite objectives and different things to do would help.

Fun and frantic! I felt very concerned about my other polygon when I was clearing the opposite area and would always rush to make sure it was okay. I think adding death upon colliding with enemies would add an additional challenge and element of fun!
