Unfortunately we wasn't able to finish the game, had too much ideas in heads (in heads, got it? Okay, I'm sorry.) - story, characters, level in a Woodstock Fair... But its only 48 hours and we are noobs, so just two buggy levels. So hope you guys will like an idea and the animation of the hero' eyebrows at least!

Controls:

  • Press 'W' to open your mind;
  • Press 'Enter' to use your brains;
  • Release 'Enter' to let your imagination fly;
  • Press 'S' to pull yourself together;
  • Press 'W' and 'S' at the same time if you don't hear your own thoughts.

    Interesting idea, but I couldn't really figure out how to play. I included it in my GM48: One Tool, Many Uses compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/xLRwFoQlSuM

    Very interesting concept but many weird things, it took me a while to understand that you could make a rope out of the brain by jumping (despite the clues given by the character we play but his talk is so dumb that i kinda skipped it) BUt even then, I was not able to get far, got stuck in the buggy rope and collisions and stuff :/ too bad cause the concept was interesting

    I loved the art, but much like the rest of the users that left comments I found it very difficult to progress, I used the brain as a rope once but then got stuck to the ceiling :(

    Really loved the use of the theme :)

    But I really didn't understand the controls sorry :(

    The graphics look nice and the dialogue portraits are a nice touch. I really enjoy the animation for the head opening. The music is good too.

    I like the concept but I'm not sure it's fully realised here. I think it could have been interesting if you had different abilities based on what you had in place of your brain (if anything). As others have mentioned the brain rope thing is quite unintuitive.

    When I tried to recall the brain while hanging I got this error:

    ############################################################################################ FATAL ERROR in action number 1 of Step Event0 for object obj_gg:

    Unable to find any instance for object index '8' name 'obj_rope' at gml_Object_obj_gg_Step_0 ############################################################################################

      Thank you guys for all the feedback!

      This is true, the game became a victim of bad time management - we have way more code and assets than fit in this two poor levels.

      Yeah the idea was to use brains in a different ways, even pass the same part differently: throw it on a ceil as a rope, make a stick to use as a bridge, throw it in the water (where character dies) and jump of it, or hit a button on the other side to call a platform. And you could distract zombies with it, and put things in your skull to pass the guards... Unfortunatelly, all this ideas remains only in our heads. Heads, huh? Okay, this was the last one.

      Regarding strange controls, the idea was to use less buttons to more functions. You press up to open head, down to pick objects, and the direction you throwing things changes if you jump. Not sure it was a good idea :)

      P.S. On the level 2 you need to hold a Cat in your hands to pass in the door.

      P.P.S. And yes don't try to draw in the brains while you hanging, IT'S A TRAP.

    I'd like to start by saying that I agree with many of the sentiments already offered here by other commenters. It's an interesting idea and a really creative use of the theme, but it's length and the bugs involved hindered the experience.

    A bug I'd like to mention involves the rope swing. If you attach to the rope, you get placed at the bottom before you are able to start swinging. This can cause the player to be forced into a wall/floor. As it stands, that's really only a problem on level two, under the car.

    I agree that it's cool (really cool, too) that you can put other objects in your head, but with that having no effect on the player, it might have been something to put aside to focus more on the bugs that are present. Because it wasn't quite clear to use the brain to create a swing, I assumed that the soda can might give me a greater jump height. I don't think it's a missed opportunity so much, but something to keep in mind if you decide to expand on this project, which I really hope you do.

    Ok first of all, I really love the character dialogue portraits and how they animate (and the art in general, for that matter), I got a good laugh at those, and just the idea of grabbing your brain out of your head and throwing it around and doing crazy stuff. The brain rope idea is also really cool and unique, but the game does nothing to show you it's there (I had to cheat and read Baku's feedback to figure it out).

    I did manage to beat the game, but only because I walked away from the door I opened and then back. It seems there's a bug because the first time I tried to go inside it didn't work, but the second time it did. And then it's over.

    So many really good ideas here, too bad you couldn't have made it a little more complete and fixed the control a bit.

    Very interesting idea that unfortunately wasn't executed as well as it could've been. The controls were pretty wonky, but I eventually got used to them.

    It took me like 15 minutes before I even realised I could throw the brain at ceilings to create a swinging rope, that part could be explained better. I got up the the cat in level 2, but never figured out what to do to progress beyond that level.

    Fun use of the theme though. I also liked that I could put anything inside my skull :D

    No idea what to do in the second level. Up+Down (or W +S) does nothing.

    Plus it's pretty much unplayable because of the controls. First they're weird, but you can also move with the arrows or a controller but only left and right (and you can also jump with the controller but that's all). I don't know why it's in there. It's even a problem with the controller since you didn't tweaked the deadzone, so the character pretty much walks on its own.

    With all that, I don't even have the patience to test everything since the jumps in the second level are basically pixel perfect for no reason.

    Oh and dialogue skipping should be tweaked too, since it can pop up any time, I skipped some instantly in the first level by jumping (and I guess you mapped it to spacebar because I couldn't skip dialogues with the controller)
