Summary

The game "Bow" presents an interesting concept with a unique mechanic involving knockback from arrow shots, fitting well with the jam theme. However, multiple players found the difficulty excessively high due to large hitboxes, fast and numerous enemies, and challenging controls, which led to frustration and limited playtime. Positive remarks were made about the graphics, sound effects, and the power shot mechanic. Control scheme issues, such as the inconvenient restart key, were also noted as detracting from the experience.

Very challenging game. I included it in my compilation video series of all of the GM48 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/6oxsNSlqcYM

It's too difficult, but not even for the right reasons. Hitboxes are too big so you die even if you don't really touch the spikes, and clicking always does knockback, even if you're not shooting an arrow.
Also the character is like 1/4 of the size of the room, and in two seconds there's already like 5 enemies...

And yeah, the fact that you have to move your hand to press enter (the control scheme being WASD + mouse) to restart adds insult to injury.

Edit: I didn't try to be mean, just give honest feedback that could help you in the future.
For the GM48 I always try to play and rate all the games, which takes quite some time (especially today, since I've been busy before I had a lot to play). I think a REAL challenge is not really what people seek in gamejams, but sometimes games are hard and you need to spend more time on them. But sometimes those game just kill you instantly, you don't make any progress even with a few tries, and it feels like they don't want you to play them.

A really simple game, it was kinda fun for a little bit, but the hitbox problems took that away really quickly and made for a frustrating experience.

This seems cool but the difficulty is tuned way too high at the moment. You can only kill a few enemies before being overwhelmed. The bow does too little damage and there's very little room to maneuver (the hitbox seems a bit big) which makes it hard to make any progress.

Also, a minor thing that's still kind of annoying: The Enter key is impossible to reach with your hands on WASD and the mouse, so you have to keep taking your hands off the controls to restart.

Anyway, let's look at some positives. The concept of knocking yourself backwards with arrow shots is neat and fits the theme well. I like the power shot - it's pretty satisfying taking out multiple enemies in a row. The graphics look kinda cool and the sound effects work well enough.

The recoil might be way too recoily! To the point where you just accept the fact that to shoot an enemy, you need to move to his direction while shooting...

Also, too difficult, you spam so many enemies, it's barely even possible to kill 2 before getting beaten up by the gang.

Yeah, i see how i may have given the player a little too much recoil and difficulty, but also wanted to give the player a strategy to work with and a challenge unlike some of the games that ive seen on here. thanks for the feedback! ill remember this the next game i make for sure

Use of theme was good but it was really hard to stay alive for more than a few seconds. If the enemies were slower and you could fire more rapid bullets it might balance out more.

This is a really cool idea, but it starts off at too high a difficulty! Even trying to time the power arrows I could only last a few seconds. Maybe give the enemies less health or make them a little slower to allow the player to get away from them.
