You're a dinosaur lost in the woods and need to find your way out before it gets dark. Click the dark areas to reveal the path. Use the compass button to cheat but be warned it will cost you a life.
Game control using a mouse.
Sorry no sound, ran out of time.

Lovely graphics! I included it in my compilation video series of all of the GM48 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/UEdGTFt7opw

At first I didn't really get what to do, but once I did I had a ton of fun, the game looks great and it's really polished, too bad for the lack of sound.

The game really feels polished, especially the menu, too bad there isn't any sounds.
The biggest problem is if you mess up, you tend to want to click to pass the prompt, but that makes you place a tile, and most of the time not in the right spot, so you kinda loose two lives at once since there isn't any room for error.SubmittedOliver the Torchbearer

Lovely atmosphere! A shame there is no sound, it would have made it better.
My issue with the game is that it relies way too much on memory. If you want to make it a memory game, that's fine but it has to be balanced. Allow the player to make more than 0 mistake. The issue is that it's a pure "retry if you're not lucky" and on top of that you gotta remember a lot of tiles! Really it would have helped to have at least 2 possible mistakes. You could give "stars" or some kind of rankings for those who made it without making any mistake for example. It also would have helped if you could tell each tiles appart. For example, some times could have a bear on it or some rocks in the path, to be able to use them as reliable points. There it's 100% about the placement of the tile rather than the tile itself.
Also, when you click on the last tile while losing, it immediately restarts, so if you clicked on the next tile without paying attention, it discovers a tile, forcing you to restart manually.

Nice game. It has a lot of nice details that make it feel very polished (aside from the lack of audio obviously). The graphics are very nice and quite charming, plus a lot of attention was clearly put into making the menus and such look good too. The gameplay is pretty good but it ends up feeling a lot more like a memory game than a puzzle game. That's cool if it's what you were going for, but for a real puzzle you would probably need randomised level layouts and some more hints on the tiles that can be deciphered. Also, having the theme only for the hints made it feel a bit tacked on - I never used the compass because it felt like cheating.

This game is really beautiful and the gameplay is nicely done. Altough I could not play it for much time, I really had fun.
Congratulations, good job!

Nice graphics in game and also with menus.
I would add some randomness in the levels and maybe the possibility of making at least one mistake without affecting the victory.

Graphics is good.
The gameplay is refreshing compared to the other entries, but the ramp in difficulty every level could be easily countered by some memorization. A certain extent of randomness (like the level spawning a different path every failure) could liven up things a bit more.
Overall, the game's nice. It does have a polished feel.

Love the art.
The gameplay is kind of boring. Its to tight in options and becomes a quest for trial and error and memorization.
Greatly polished.

I love the graphical style and the game looks very polished. Like other's mentioned, I would like to have more "hints" (doesn't have to be obvious) on the revealed tiles. This would give you the feeling of progression if you recognice them in later levels!

Excellent job on the menus and making the game feel like a real game from the very beginning. So as far as the theme goes....
The hearts never really made a difference. There was always more hearts than compasses. If I completed a level then I would get all my hearts back so I never had to worry about that....
I love the animation of the dino when you lose a level. Great job!
Spoiler for those reading this comment that have not yet played the game……
If you reveal tiles at the beginning and at the end then click the compass it will show you where to go at your first crossroad from the beginning at a crossroad near the end. It is like a two for one deal. Not sure if that was intended but I loved it.

Thanks Dustin so happy you mentioned the menus as they took me longer than anything else in the game. This is one area the software could improve as most games have at the very least a basic menu system start, music mute, credits, help, quite. It would be great if you could animate layers in GameMaker as this would solve a lot of this.
Yes those hearts are not quite working in this version but as the levels progress and with the removal of the restart button they will be more important. Also I plan to have an unlocked level system so if you fail you will be forced to restart from the last unlocked level which could be five levels back or something like that?
Revealing tiles anywhere has turned into somewhat of a nice feature as it seems user like to explore. So in turn I'm hoping to make more graphic features and animations on each map to reward the exploration. Not quite sure how this will work but it been added to my now very long list. Thanks for playing and for the feedback it's very useful.

Very nice game. The art is a big highlight here. The gameplay is interesting and original. However, as Toemking mentioned, around level 3 one or two misclicks means the game and it seems the only way to get it figured out is to guess your way through until you kinda have it figured out, then remember the path. More clues (within the actual game) would have been a cool remedy for this problem. Love it though, and you can tell a ton of work went into this!

A very neat game that is a break away from generic kind of games like platformers. It feels very rewarding to successfully complete a path. A major issue I found is there is no room for error when playing the game. If you misclick once you are forced to restart or continue playing knowing you wont get a reward. It also lacks in the theme department. When using the compass it shows you the way through the blue ghost but you lose a life, although you use a life it really doesn't matter because when you lose a life you go back to the start of the level

so glad you enjoyed it!
I put the restart button in at the last minute because my kids thought it was to hard without it. Imagine it without the restart button and that's the direction of future development.
lots more in store for the future of this game. :)
