This is not as much a game as it is a proof of concept/tech demo, although playable and possible to finish.
There's one functioning enemy and a boss that doesn't take that much effort to beat, functional moving platforms and sliding doors. That's about it. Had no time to implement even the simplest SFX or background music, nor replace any of the placeholder graphics.
Technically there's controller support too but uh, it's hard coded for gamepad slot 4 (DInput), and it's super awkward. The game plays better on keyboard and mouse.

I'll try to give feedback upon what I got to experience:
-
I like how polivalent and useful the companion is
-
it's nice to see it move
-
but the companion has a bit too complex utilities. I think it's because it's a gamejam; it would have been nice to have the mechanics introduced one at a time.
-
Feels awkward to do nothing but avoid shots as bats where attacking. The companion is a bit too useful in that case.
-
But I do like that some weapons allow you to shoot up like the flamer. (but it's limited ammo)
-
What I miss the most is actual character design rather than anything else, to be honest. I would have wished to know what were the two characters interacting. Was it a drone? A bee? Are you human? Tofu? An abstract representation of a lambda player? I am curious!

That is a pretty sweet game, you don't even need art for it to be fun! I really like all the different things the companion can do. It makes the companion feel helpful and awesome. I think it is a really cool concept too. Oh and it was pretty hilarious to throw blows with a fish with arms at the end! The game overall felt really solid. I didn't really experience any bugs in my play through. I think it was so good the only thing it was truly missing was art, sounds, and content, but the game didn't need it to be fun. Good work! Great game!

Nice idea, lots of companion features! I'd suggest slowing the camera movement a bit as it was making me a bit dizzy.

It looks like a great game prototype. I hope you continue and finish the real game.

There's some quite impressive game logic here - the movement and actions and states and pathfinding of your little companion is quite sophisticated. Also I really liked the art on the boss at the end :D giant horse-thing with arms?! Excellent stuff.
It was fun to direct my little companion to press switches and hunt for goodies - definitely felt like it had a life of its own, a truly useful companion!

Thanks! I actually liked the idea enough and see enough potential in it that I'm looking into building the thing from the grounds up and hopefully turning it into a fully fledged puzzle/action platformer.
The boss is in fact a giant fish with buff arms! Didn't have time to make it look fishier. :D
