I came into this jam wanting to make a hypercasual game. I'm glad you achieved my goal. Way to go, this is an example of the quality game maker is capable of.

Put a smile on my face, thank you for that. It was a cute game. Although, you did upload your entire project file instead of an executable but no matter! Good job.

Thank you!
I'm on a mac without a mac developer license or a windows computer to create a an exe on, so the only executable I can make is a HTML5 version which you can play here: https://gm48.net/game/1051/lone-lunes/play

Pretty charming game! Very well polished and it felt fun moving the moons.
As mentioned, it would have been nice to know our current power level, or at least the number of stars collected, to give them a bit more meaning!
EDIT: No i'm fine with the earth glow, I mostly wanted to see some stats. a definite number showing me how far I got! Like a score of some sort.

Daww thanks - yeah I'm definitely going to make the Earth glow sooner and brighter so you can more easily gauge the power level.

This is such a zen game to play! It has a nice 'atmosphere' haha. I think the music and art complemented each other well. It took me a little while to fully understand what was happening, but once I got the hang of how Earth's moon was trying to orbit the Earth as it catapulted through space, I had a ton of fun banging against planets and moons and collecting stars! Is it possible to actually get all the moons to be happy? Thanks for the fun game!

Thank you for your wonderful feedback! It is possible to get all the moons happy - there's 100 of them in total so it does take a while to make 50 pairs ๐

Fantastic job! The polished art, the simple soundtrack, the tight controls, the unique gravity mechanic, and the satisfaction of getting a big hit with lot's of stars all came together really well for a great experience.
2 things I wanted while I was playing were:
- an indication of what my power level was
- an indication of how many moons were left/where they were on the map
But it was a 48 hour game jam, so that's probably asking a lot ^^ Well done. I enjoyed playing it!

Thank you very much for you kind words! Also thanks for your feedback - I've definitely made the indication of power level not clear enough, it's how glowy your earth gets! Eventually you can make yourself into a grossly incandescent sun if you collect enough star pieces and then you can push everything around easily. I think I should make the glowyness more dramatic and build up faster to reassure people that they are getting stronger.
Also yes hunting down the last few tiny moons is tricky - I was thinking maybe having an arrow that fades in if you haven't paired any new moons for a while which points you to two unpaired moons. What I was trying to avoid was putting a big '95/100' bit of text on the screen because I was enjoying how simple and clean the game looked without any clutter, and if I could have a subtle but still useful way of showing it in-universe then that would be preferable.

Cool game, it's nice to finally see a proper polished game haha. It felt very smooth. I managed to pair them all up! :)
What did Poly-mode do though?

Thank you very much! ๐
Poly mode allows you to connect the moons up not just as couples but as groups and families. It works best if you start a new game with R and press P immediately.
Also a bug/feature of poly mode is that when an odd number of planet are joined, the forces between them are asymmetrical and unbalanced which mean that they spin and travel around the map and bump into and join with other moons sometimes exponentially! The little family gangs they make are really cool and funny but it makes the game less challenging and departs a little from the companion theme so I kept the main game to be pairing up the moons instead.

Yeah, I had to play this game, because... Well... My name is in it ;)
I really like the idea and I love the art. Very clean and cute.
I did not do well in the game though. I found it very hard to stear the moon and planet in any direction whatsoever. I did pair up something like 3 or 4 moon and planets, but sadly it was mostly by coincidence.

Thanks Lone!
Yes it's tricky to pair up moons particularly at the start because your little character has very little pushing power - if you collect lots of stars and get him all glowing and powerful he can knock around even the biggest moons easily which means you don't have to be so accurate with the controls.
Psst - if you want to try again, just mash the up arrow and bunch of times to give yourself a load of star powr - (it's a debug feature I forgot to remove)

I had a lot of fun playing the game. I didn't quite get all the moons paired up but I feel like I was close! The controls were a little "floaty" but I suppose it is in space so that actually makes sense. Sweet little game!

Thank you!
Yeah I think it's the age-old problem where I have gotten too used to the controls to imagine how floaty and tricky the controls are for new players D: I wanted to make it so the player felt like they could move quickly so they can move across the map unhindered, but have enough micro-control so they can bump the planets accurately.
Perhaps I could implement a 'run' key, like Lshift or something, that makes you move much faster, then when you're not holding it down, have the controls be much more tight and precise for the more delicate movements required to bump the planets around.

Match making in outer space. That works, I guess.
Really, though, the game looks and sounds really nice, and the gameplay feels super polished. My only criticism might be that there doesn't seem to be any force opposing the player (ie. no enemies), so the game gets to feel a bit boring after a while.

Thank you for your feedback. I think you have a good point - I certainly have too many moons and the pacing feels quite stale long before you can pair them all up.
It was a deliberate choice to have the tone of the game to be focused on exploring the space and mastering the controls without the pressure of fighting or evading enemies. I'm challenging myself in jams recently to move away from violence and the threat of violence as being a key motivating factor - It's interesting trying to create engaging but relaxing games without adrenaline-fuelled excitement as the primary emotion.

The game ends when you pair up all 100 moons in the galaxy ๐ค It can be pretty tricky because those little brown nesquik ones can be hard to find.
