Clocktease 2- Unplugged

Another soul has been dragged into the horror that is the Clocktease. Race against the clock to beat levels as fast as you can, using a powerful dash that could harm your final time as much as help it. Replay levels to get the best time you possibly can, and unlock new levels to play.

    I'm pretty good at plateformers (well, less so on keyboards), but the fact that I'm shot on time to play other game and that I had to spend like 5 minutes just on the TUTORIAL to beat it made me give up. I tried a few times the second level, but well, it's harder.
    Also, since you can't really afford to get hit, I wish you just restarted the levels instantly.

    I mean, ok your speedrunner friend tested the game, but even so, the first levels should be easier to unlock than the following. Even like just unlocking the first 3 levels, then having a low requirement, then you can have those high time for the few last.
    Requiring the player to master your game right from the start is way too punishing.

    Great stuff. It really had me keep playing to get a better score. There's definitely something here. Keep at it!

    I'm not sure if I appreciate the family unfriendly innuendo in the title. 😅

    Might be one of my favs from this jam! Even though the visuals weren't the prettiest, progressively shaving off extra seconds kept me satisfied through the whole thing. Maybe the enemy hitboxes could have been slightly more forgiving. The dash feels balanced, even if dashing upwards feels a bit like cheating in vertically oriented levels. Rainbow Ravine was brutal, but I loved how you snuck in a different song for that one level as a sort of reward for reaching it. Here are my final times.

    I really enjoyed this. The levels seem designed so that you can speed through them if you know what you're doing so it was a lot of fun trying to get the best times possible. I'm impressed by how balanced the dash is - most of the time it isn't worth the sacrifice, but there are some of spots where you can get a better time by abusing it, plus it helps to get you out of tricky spots in a pinch. That said, I feel the time required to unlock new levels is way too strict, especially in the early stages. I think it would be better if there was had lots of room for error early on but the requirements got tighter as you progressed so you would be encouraged to replay earlier levels for faster times.

    Oh, and the music is pretty cool.

      Glad you enjoyed it! We had a speedrunner friend playtest the game, so I think the times to unlock things were skewed a bit to the more difficult by that. We also just make really hard games, something we're working on.

    Not bad at all! My issue would be on the balance itself. The timer is way too tight and it's too difficult for beginners to unlock new levels. Forcing you to make the tutorial over and over again until you do it perfectly. There's barely room for mistakes. Also a longer invincibility frame would have helped.

    That said, it's pretty nice to have a good control of your character!

      Thanks, we have a tendency to make our games way too hard. Honestly by the end of it I thought 35 seconds was pretty generous because we were beating it in 42s and 43s. There wasn't a ton of time for balance, just someone (who is really good at platforming) who helped us playtest, so the times got skewed a bit towards more difficult. Thanks though, and I'm glad you enjoyed controlling the character!

    I really like this game! It is hard and long but I still enjoyed it the whole way to the end. The controls are easy to use but hard to master. You really need to use the dash wisely.

    You clearly prioritized gameplay over graphics. You don't even have a background until the last level. The jump animation is in the middle of the screen about 90% of the time and that is just one static image that kind of look like a lightningbolt.

    It took me a while to finish it but i had fun with this game, maybe a little bit too difficult and i would have liked more precision regarding the controls, but overall it's a good game.

    This game was a great improvement on its predecessor, you fixed all the bad design aspects that Clocktease 1 had and revamped it with a great connection to the theme, level design felt a bit lacking in some parts of the game but was overall balanced, mostly because of the great controls that give the player a ton of freedom of movement, I can honestly see this evolve into a great speedrunning game.
