Nice graphics, challenging game. I included it in my compilation video series of all of the GM48 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/6oxsNSlqcYM

I really enjoyed this game, has a risk of rain feeling to it, and it's honestly a lot more fun and polished than what you would expect from a jam game, the story was kinda cliche, but with gameplay this good and a connection to the theme like this one who cares really :P

Beautiful game. Everything works well and fells complete.
I'm not sure about some choices you made though. Monkeys can spawn on you and attack immediately, which is infuriating. I don't understand the point of climbing too, apart from the cool animation. It takes so long and most of the time a golem is right there on top of you waiting for you to be stuck in your climbing animation.

We think that the mechanics of the ledge grab give something more to the gamplay, moreover the golem attacks you only at the end of the climb animation giving the chance to dodge his attack.

      Thanks for the feedback :)

The art and atmosphere are awesome. I was really feeling the spooky demon vibe.

The gameplay is a little grindy, though. It feels like you have to find a corner and spam arrows to avoid getting destroyed by the little demons (and to recover health and gain talisman energy). Still, it was enjoyable enough to play through to the end :)

Pretty cool game! It looks and feels nice! Nice background as well.

My issue is with the game design itself:

    • It's not always obvious when you get hit, so the lack of feedback makes it harder to keep track of your current health

    • The player needs to be able to breathe and have safe points. The constant spawning of the little devilish monkeys is, imo, the biggest flaw of the game. They follow you everywhere, may stack and spawn on you 24/7 Since they're hre for free health, maybe it would have been better to have them have a ground spawn so that the player has safe spaces. Or maybe enchanted areas that repell them. (That's maybe cooler)

    • The fights against guardians are mostly: getting on the ledge, jumping as soon as possible to avoid them hitting you, then spamming them with the sword. It would have been nice not to have them constantly on ledges :o

PS: I see you mentionned flashing the screen for feedback on another comment. Don't; make the character flash a color instead

We had little time to optimize everything unfortunately, this includes the spawn of the enemies.

Thanks for the feedback, we will keep it in mind when we improve it :)

I'm very impressed from the quality of art and sound. This is outstanding!

My only concern is that the Z button in german countries is switched with the Y and so it was really hard for me to jump and fight at the same time.

      Thank you very much :)

We are sorry that you had trouble with controls because of the different configuration of the keyboard, we will pay more attention to this side from now on.

The game art is very nice. We died a lot in the beginning because we didn't read the instructions but also the player character didn't react when getting hurt by the smaller monsters. The animated gif looks like a nice speed but on our machine it ran much slower which effected the feeling and reaction times.

When you get hit the screen shake is activated and the blood particles are created, however you're right we had to increase the feedback maybe with a white flash on screen or on the sprite but the time was short.

The gif is a little faster but is due to the program used to register it, the game was tested on multiple PCs without experiencing slowdowns. We are sorry that you have had this problem, we will investigate it.

      Thanks for the feedback :)

Very nice game! The story sets the tone well and it isn't too drawn out. The art is fantastic. There's tons of detail in the background and characters, plus they are animated well. The audio is also great with some fitting music and effective sound effects everywhere.

The base movement and combat gameplay is enjoyable too. However, I wasn't a fan of the overall structure which mostly boiled down to a few grindy arenas with the same enemies. It's certainly not bad or anything but I guess I just felt a bit underwhelmed after everything else was so stellar.

      Thank you! :)

For what concerning the gameplay it would have been difficult to implement more enemies in so less time and with all the other things we had to do, certainly with more time at disposition we would have added more variety.

I am completely digging the pixel art and music AND game play. It did take me a little while to figure out how to do everything but I was able to win!!! I was very excited to see that you had controller support but for some reason my controller did not work!!! :( that could be a problem with my controller and not your game tho.

There were times when it felt like I was grinding. Like I would sit in the corner and kill dudes with my bow until my energy was up and then wreck the big dudes. Nice game. I really don't have anything bad to say about it.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game :)

The gamepad work only if is indexed as the first direct input device in your OS. Maybe you have another direct input device plugged in.

Very impressive graphics and gameplay! I love the ledge grab! This was fun once I got the hang of killing the little guys for health. The first room was really hard though. I feel like the early levels could have used a slower version of the little guys, and less of them.

Very nice little game. The art is great, nice animations. Feels nice to control, audio is nice, music is relaxing. The intro is a little long winded for just text in a short game but not a bad touch. Good on the technical side with good menus, UI and responsive controls.

The mechanics are little exploitable here, where the best method to win seems to be waiting for many smaller monsters to group inside each other and take them all out with a sword, which leaves little use for the bow.

It does seem a little padded out to make up for being a bit short. In the way that you wait for enemies to spawn to farm energy rather than being difficult.

The game is probably a little too generic. While still following the theme, I would say it is a little uninspired in that regard.

Anywho, good overall job on this, nice game.
