Stranded on a deserted island, you have only your trusty gun and the statue of a benevolant god to protect yourself from the horrors of the ocean. After defeating a wave of foes, the statue will gift you with a building to help you survive, but even these buildings won't last forever.

Now this is what I'm talking about! This was excellent. Really great work. This has a ton of potential to be like an Isaac-like if the buildings had synergies. As it is, it's super fun and the controls felt great, very responsive and tight. The art was really well done too, and felt fun and cohesive across the board. Really well done!

Really fun game! Art is cute, music complements it well. But the gameplay is a definite creative use of the theme, and pretty fun too! I like the variety of enemies and buildings-- I think variety is one of the biggest things jam games need to keep themselves from getting old. Strategizing where to put the buildings was also fun, but my strategy could have been more informed if I knew where the enemies would come from next (almost a tetris-like display to show where they would come from next wave would be neat.) I also didn't feel like I had a lot of control, since I never knew what I would get next. Overall, though, these are minor complaints, and they don't hugely detract from the game. Nice work!

This was a fun game to battle through! The ability for you to take the heat off your towers by using yourself as bait creates a bit of tension when making decisions about how to protect your fort, it's my favorite part of the gameplay (the whales were no slouch either). Out of all the things here though, I loved the adaptive music the most; it worked well with the ebb and flow of the gameplay loop and it's generally just very impressive to see implemented within gamejam time constraints. Tutorialization was also quick and spiffy, though I had a bit of trouble reading it with the font. Great job overall!

This is a beautifully made game with a lot of variety and a unique take on tower defense by actually getting you involved in the attacking as well - I really like the bright vibrant art and tropical music, really fits the theme well. I think the only thing I would've liked would've been to see the health of the enemies and my buildings rather than just a warning note when it's low - just a small bar above them when they're being attacked temporarily would've been all it needed. But that's only a minor nit-pick, overall this is a really enjoyable, replable and fun experience you've made here, good job! :)

I liked the pace of the game. Though I think the buildings could be reworked a bit. And the camera zooming in a bit could help too.
Overall, great game!

This game did a lot of things really well, I would have liked to see bigger enemy sprites in general but the gameplay was good and there was a lot of content

Really polished game! I think the buildings could've been put to better use, or at least been made more essential, but other than that, really solid game!

Fun game, but the building system felt a bit meh. I think because most of them didn't use space very much it didn't feel like it mattered where I placed them (e.g. it would have been cool if the healing and attack up were more dramatic but you had to stand close by).

Plays well, and looks very good except that the help text font appeared to be the default and didn't look very good pixelated. The music matches the atmosphere nicely. The fire rate of the gun felt a little slow compared to the overall pace of the game.

Thought it was a fun game that did a good job of introducing the player to the mechanics and various enemies they'd encounter. The theme reminded me of one of your past games - Interloper. Statues... Islands... :D Really cool stuff..
Tutorial was helpful but maybe a little overly so because it counted as part of the waves so it was a little long. Think some of that could have been condensed.
I like the short and sweet rounds and the health regen after each one. I also liked planning out where to put the buildings down. However, I didn't really use the moving building stuff around more. I felt that because I was the biggest threat to the enemies, moving buildings around would allow them to get too much control. Maybe if I had to rely more on the buildings to fight (if more were turrets or if the turrets were just that much strong than me), I would be forced to have better building management than what I did. Most of how I played was just trying to kill enemies, and kite them away from my buildings.
Initally I thought I had to be in close proximity to a structure in order to benefit from it. Which I thought might be an interesting thing to see and make building management that much harder as you don't want to kite enemies too far. Though the way you did it was cool too. Basically upgrades kind of given form so the player is forced to protect them to keep being strong. I think it is a fun balance.
Art was a lot of fun and satisfying. I think the bright colours and music gave it a pleasant feel to play. Good amount of polish too! Nice work!

Awesome game, really enjoyed all the various elements. Building placement between waves was very novel, super cool!

Here's a sort of mini-review:
Gameplay is fluid and responsive and the shooter and tower-defence mechanics work well together. Shooting feels nice (especially with a ton of firerate upgrades) and I love how the enemies drop skulls when they die! And enemy variety is impressive for a jam game! There are also many structures to build, though the lack of choice can make the game quite swingy.
My biggest problem in this otherwise great game was that I found the pacing to be way too slow. The tutorial lasts for 20 rounds and the waves only contain a handful of enemies at most. I think it might have been more fun to have tons of weak enemies instead of a couple of strong ones. Also the long tutorial feels like a chore after the first time and really makes me not want to play another round. I know this is something that's difficult to balance in a jam game since it requires a lot of testing, but it's a shame since othewise I'd love to play more!
The art style is nice and crips thanks to bright colors and clear outlines. Reminds me of Terraria with walking goldfish and all. Animations, even though quite basic for the most part, work well and make the game feel more lively. Only thing out of place seems to be the antialiased tutorial text (and the default icon!).
The music is pretty nice and the lead instrument is suitably "islandy". The style fits the genre and feel of the game well. Sound effects are pretty decent. Nothing feels like it's out place or that something is missing, but of course there could always be more and they could be more expressive.
In conclusion, I think it's a great game for a jam game, especially for the amount of content and the level of polish. Great job!
