The Attack of the DVDs

Nice game! In the beginning I was a bit confused on what to do, but it was very enjoyable once I figured it out :)

Fun idea, would have been more fun in practice if the gun was more powerful. The art is clean and the particle effects are smooth.

I love the creative use of the DVD logo And the gameplay is fun too!

Really interesting gameplay, I was trying to figure out what gives you more points to spend on the menu but somehow got two. It's neat how the game mechanics change when you pick different combinations; DVD icons seem to bounce when you don't have an attack and red dots appear instead that randomly destroy a DVD upon collecting. I'm glad you added the blinking ! before they spawn in so you've got a heads up that's where it's spawning. As others said I wish you added some sound effects but it still had enough juice to keep me engaged :) My high score was around 24k, thanks for making this entry I enjoyed it.

Very good use of the DVD logo right here. I couldn't really figure out what the different DVD colors meant, but it was fun to play regardless!

Probably the most fun I've had with a game so far is this jam. I like the upgrades at the beginning, but it did take me a couple tries to figure out what it meant. It's a simple game, but it's fun to move around, and if you can nail that, it's a great start. Particle effects are good, and I love being able to change direction when I used the boost. Don't worry about not having sounds. I played as the speedy-pacifist character and was making sound effects for it the whole time. haha that was my best setup with 71,190 points. Great job!

Fun little game with a cute idea.

I didn't realize at first that there were different character options and just thought I couldn't shoot/dash for some reason.

I also didn't hear any sound and wasn't sure if that was the game or my machine.

The pc is very cute :D

Loved how unique the concept is. There's always been an element of "game"ness to DVD player screensavers, so making it an actual game was a great idea.

Fairly basic game, but I did like how you let players choose their mechanics. I gave each of the combinations a go and am fairly certain that shooting + 3 lives is the only real way to go, as I found the dash mechanic a little awkward to activate and it almost never had a positive result for me 😅

Bit of a shame about the lack of a menu, mechanical wrapper (had to restart the game to try again, R just restarted the shooting portion and didn't let me change my powers), and all audio, but this definitely made me smile as an entry still, so nice work!

Wow, why do you hate DVDs so much? Anyway, this is just a very basic point & shoot game. The only mildly interesting element was the stat selection thing at the beginning. I thought maybe shooting the DVDs of different colors would do different things but it didn't seem like it.

This is what happens when you go for Laserdisc instead of DVD, they attack you all at once! Jokes aside, it was a fun game, could be even more fun with some sound effects or a music to go along with it!

So my first thought was "oh, this is dead easy...", then a hot minute in, my next thought was "oh god, so many DVDs!!!" - I like how you can choose different options to affect how you play (even if they weren't entirely clear), and I like the simplicity but great execution of this one. I would just say, for next time, some sound effects go a long, long way, even some simple ones :) overall though, good job!

Such a fun little concept. I like that you're about to choose to have a non-combat playstyle as well. Although a little basic I had fun with this.
