Hello!
For this project I took the side effects theme as how the different structures you make in the verlet simulation react different.
Some things to try and build:

It was fun to play around in, a little tweaking of the ui is all that's required. I also wish there was some sort of integration with the theme, maybe it could be converted into a physics puzzle game?

Oh I like your physics playground :) Verlet Integration is fun ^^ UI could have been more user-friendly and well in HTML5 when you scroll, you also scroll the page ^^"

Extremely cool simulation, fun to play around with. However, I fail to see any relation to the theme of Side Effects, which combined with lack of any sort of gameplay disappoints me greatly.

Brings back memories of West Point Bridge Designer, haha. This is a pretty impressive tech demo; I don't have the foggiest idea how the math for all this works.

My main crit, which I see is a common issue for others too, is the unintuitive mouse scrolling to change tools. While I did get used to it, it took a little bit to figure it out.

    Overall, pretty neat entry.

Thanks for submitting this! It's a breath of fresh air to have something so off-the-wall and conceptually completely different from any other entry and it really is a treat to land on.

I wish there'd been an alternative method for swapping tools - had to play it on Itch in the end, as the school wheel kept moving the gm48 page 😅 But this was fun to play around with, and a very interesting interpretation of the theme.

Really interesting game! I was super confused with why some shapes would just shoot off the screen in a split second and others would stick around, but it was fun and cool when I got to see how it all reacted. Very unique entry, for sure. I could see this being a cool physics puzzle game, or maybe some new genre honestly.

Other than the mouse wheel being the opposite direction I'd expect, uh, you accomplished your goal! Seems to work pretty nicely.

Interesting concept. I included it in my GM48 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/gQOVaoF4Jeg

    IT'S THE MOUSE WHEEL
That's for anyone reading these reviews, trying to figure out how to change between tools! I was pressing a lot of keyboard keys before I figured that one out! 😂 Maybe it's intuative, but I'm not very intuative!
That slight issue aside, this is a very interesting concept and not something I expected here, it's more of a phyics sandbox/playground than a game itself which definitely makes it stand out from the crowd - you make of it what you want and it's entirely up to the player to do all manner of silly things with it, great idea and a fun concept :)

Nice little physics toy here. Switching the mode with the mouse wheel was a little clunky and unintuitive (coudn't figure it out until I went to the itch page) but other than that everything seems to work well. Not sure how it fits with the theme though.

I ran into a few bugs and a crash, but a pretty impressive entry with it's scope. The suggested things to try and build was a nice motivation to try a few things. Some more instructions would be good since I don't think I figured out all the capabilities. The theme seemed a bit of a stretch to me. The SFX were very satisfying. The start of a possibly cool game though!

Edit: One crash is trying to use the line without any points. I tried in the itch page and it didn't crash there so maybe you already fixed that.

Thanks for letting me know about the bugs, could you explain a bit more about them and what you did to make it crash? The theme was tough to come up with something other than side effects of pills and thought trying out verlet integration would be fun and just sorta fit cause the shapes you make do alter how they react. I'm glad the suggestions motivated you, I'll try and make a larger list of things or some type of goal to reach when I work on making it a phone app.

I don't have enough creativity to play this :( Seems to genuinely fun if you know what you're doing tho Congrats on the submission!

      Thanks for the feedback :D
I'm going to be continuing the project and add a bunch more tools like saving/loading, duplication, motors, solid lines etc that would hopefully allow you to be more creative.
I made a discord for it where you can show off what you make or hear about updates: sidelong discord
