An accident at a research lab in the Yukon exposes you to a serum that kicks your metabolism into overdrive, forcing you to frantically scour your frozen environs for any food you can find until a rescue helicopter arrives with supplies.

Keep from starving (hunger bar on left) and freezing (temperature bar on right) long enough for help to arrive (choppa bar in middle).

controls: WASD to move, ESC to Quit, ANY to skip intro.

I almost thought there was only the room, and thought it was going to be "escape room" thing, but then accidently I get to explore more :D I liked the graphics and atmoshpere here :)

Couldn't quite guess the limits of the map, I've been trying to exit several rooms realizing I couldn't, so pine trees would have helped figuring out it was the limit.

Aside that, other feedbacks have already said the rest. I like the atmopshere! It feels fresh (pun intended) and it's cool to have a rather big world to move into :)

Wish the paper was visible longer at the beginning or click to advance kinda thing cause I wasn't able to read it fast enough. The sound effects were nice and I wish there was more. The art was great, simplistic and consistantly styled. It took me a bit to figure out that you had to survive until the helicopter came but I found three buildings and food all around (I was interested in why wheat was in the snow but looked it up and it made sense). I tried a quite a few times but couldn't last until the helicopter and perished from starvation x...x. At least I survived for a little while and it was fun while it lasted, thanks for the great entry I enjoyed it.

A pretty interesting hybrid of a survival game and classic-style adventure game, with a neat aesthetic — the barren look of the world, combined with the ambient wind in the background, really helps drive home how isolated and desperate for survival your character is. My biggest complaint is the collision detection, which seemed a little weird in some places; above the starting research lab, for example, I got caught on the terrain very often, which presented a problem when I was scrambling to get the last little bit of food by the campfire. I got close on two occasions, but never quite managed to get rescued, unfortunately.

Would you believe the wind noise was just a layering of audio of me blowing through my teeth? I was amazed how authentic it sounded, considering what it was.

I think the survival idea is interesting, I almost survived and I think it's a good concept to expand on - the only problem I found is that when you're walking around the map, the collision mask for a lot of the objects were a little confusing and not too generous, making moving around quite tricky. Other than that, it's a unique game in this jam and I enjoyed it

Yes, the big technological leap of the old Sierra adventure games I was somewhat emulating here was the ability of the character to go behind objects, which is something I omitted here due to the time constraints, but it would've helped a lot with the collision shenanigans. Glad you enjoyed it anyway!

I like the different animation than what's usually in these jams. Pretty simplistic game overall, but it was good for a jam. Maybe put a little work into collision detection being more exact, but not bad as a whole.

Yeah did some funky things with the collision in places due to the terrain just being background. With more than 48 hours I'd do it correctly but that conflicted with my goal of making the world as big as possible.

It took a few tries but I did survive! Fun concept that really delivers the feeling of being isolated and desperate for food/shelter quite well. A few more details (like a couple more sound effects) and improved collisions would be improvements, but it's a good entry regardless.

Very challenging game! I included it in my GM48 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/mhNq7rNpmB8

I like how via a few playthroughs you kind of "get to know" the map, and can strategise the use of food and shelter more. Because of this I would have liked if the game didn't exit when the character dies and think it would have been good to have an "R to restart" kind of deal, I was exiting and entering the game quite a lot to get to the end. I love the subtle soundscape, it goes perfectly with the athmosphere! I would have liked better collisions at the edge of rooms to make it clear if I can go in an area or not, sometimes I'd go off screen but not enter a new room, I'm guessing the collision boxes are just slightly outside of the boundaries? I liked the intro a lot, nice quick way to get the player immersed into the story, won't deny the first thing I did was try and see could I eat the rats!! One thing I'd love as something that could add something extra is some kind of text pop ups or dialogue when you enter a new area or come across a new cabin or something, something to add more to the setting, or alternatively extra research notes in the other cabins! Great job, had a great time playing!

The artstyle is great, and I think the overall premise of the game is fun as well, but the only thing missing (at least in my opinion) is some kind of indicator on which side of the screen the player can go to, since in a few instances, I was running to a seemingly open area, but that didn't actually move me to another area. Other than that, it was fun!

Yeah, I kept trying to expand the world so the edges ended up not having obvious borders in most places. Sorry if it was confusing. Glad you enjoyed it otherwise, though!

I love the art, The movement of the game is nice and so is the environment, I will say I was a little lost as to what to do, but I really enjoyed the exploration of the game. I felt juggling the stats was really balanced and kept you moving forward. I was frantically trying to find food and barely made it a few time. Great work!

A simple game. The idea of trying to survive while collecting food and going inside buildings to heat yourself up is pretty nice. I have to say though, I always get stuck on something whenever I'm walking around, especially on the way to the forest cabin, and I died once there because of it. But yeah, good game overall.

Because I was focused on making the world as big as possible I just used backgrounds for everything except the food, which led to a few areas with rough collision, since it isn't possible to go behind things. Sorry about that!

    Pros:

    • Interesting art style and game feel
    • Intro was nice to present what the game is about

    Cons:

    • Had no clue what to do / where to go
    • Managed to find the other house and get some food but that's about all i mananaged in the several playthroughts (died of hunger)
    • Unsure how the side-effects came along since i never got that far
    • Consider adding some general framing of what to do (controls and/or general objective)

Interesting take (based on the intro and game style) nonetheless!

Sorry if it wasn't clear; the rapid hunger drain is caused by the side effect of the serum, which you're exposed to when you knock yourself out and spill it on the floor. I wasn't sure if the intro would convey that concept effectively or not. As far as what to do? You had the right idea. Explore, find food without wasting any, try not to freeze while doing so.

You're correct that I should've put the basic objective in the game at the start. I do have it in the description here on the website at least.
