A small top down adventure game where you travel across time and defeat enemies. Each room has a certain amount of enemies which you need to kill to move on and get the key. Once you have cleared a room you can travel to the next room or travel in time, forward and backward and see the same areas in different times.
- CONTROLS -
- arrow keys to move
- 1 to go to the future, 2 for the present (where you start) and 3 for the past.
- z to attack with the sword and x to use an item (you can only have one type of item)
- if an item is blue it means you can pick it up, if it’s purple it means it is the enemies (don’t go near it!)
The art, and everything else is terrible that's why I called it a bad game but it took a lot of time and is fun so i thought there is no reason to no upload it, right? 18 hours of effort is enough of a reason to upload.
Veralos Level 33
I managed to get all nine keys and open the chest! It's certainly rough around the edges, but it's clear there was a lot of ambition here. The idea of travelling between time periods is neat. I enjoyed seeing how each version of the world was similar yet different. The variety of enemies and weapons is also impressive. My favourite was the bone boomerang thing.
That said, the game is a bit flawed. The attack range of the sword is incredibly tiny so you have to be very precise to hit enemies without getting hit back. There's also some dodgy collision detection that makes it possible to get stuck inside an obstacle and subsequently die. I think the game might have been better off if you went for a smaller scope and focused on polish more. Perhaps just one time period would be easier to manage?
It was hard to kill enemies as short was small and duration was low. I managed to collect 3 keys, but well I lost all progress when I couldn't regain health and only had one heart left as I went to next era. I think balancing game difficulty is one point, but also attacking is another. I liked that you tried implement many eras here.
But gamejams are good for practice and testing out things, just overall learning, keep up :)
Took me a few death just to be able to kill ONE enemy, the attack is way to short, both in duration and range. And I'm guessing the ennemies go towards the origin of your character, which is at the bottom of the sprite, which means they're even harder to hit if you're attacking on the side.
The different timelines were a good idea, but it takes so much time to finish the first room that I almost gave up before trying it.
Also the tank really shouldn't have homing missiles.
That's more or less what I've seen, definitely needs a lot of balance, but that's all pretty short things. So my main feedback is: needs more playtesting and tweaking.
The list line of your description is totally right, there no reason not to upload something if you had fun making it and put effort into it :)
My main feedback would be that the knockback enemies inflict could have been toned down, and the range of the sword made longer from the start. The combat felt very punishing for reasons out of the player's control.

There was much more functionality than I'd have expected based on your description. Nice surprise.
I think your enemy designs were sympathetic and I kinda wished the green one (also in the banner pic) would have been the main character. I have a weak spot for creatures like that.

Grunlock Level 4
I don't know how to describe this game, I both love and hate it.
It is insanely difficult. One moment you will be walking along with tonnes of hearts and the next an enemy will absolutely obliterate you in one shot. Bombs sometimes insta-kill you, sometimes not. Even basic enemies can glitch you into a corner and end you without anything you can do. So many times I was so close to have victory taken away in an instant.
Yet somehow, I couldn't stop until I bet it. It was gripping and intense. Beating it required thinking ahead, like obtaining the fireball to actually have a chance against the tank. It was like a puzzle except parts required almost pixel-perfect execution. The items and environments were interesting.
In the end I kept at it and got all 9 keys, went to the chest in the future and opened it. Nothing was inside. After opening it I couldn't teleport back to the present or past - so I'm going to say I won and that was the end. I don't think I could survive collecting all the keys again.
I'm glad you submitted it in the end and I hope the feedback you got from it will help you in your game making journey. I think I have spent the most time in this game then other games in the jam so far. While it was frustrating at times it was fun to beat (if I even did) :]

I had some difficulty killing enemies (died on the first screen many times) because of how short the attack animation is, and how limited the range is. That made the game pretty difficult to play, but once I got the hang of it, I was able to get through most of it.
Nice work finishing this up! It's always good to get something out there when you commit to a jam. :)
I played it for a while but I couldn't get all 9 keys. I came close but died in the future. Then I played again, was doing pretty well and then ran into an error when I killed the 2nd bone throwing dino. I had fun playing it. I might come back to it because I like to complete all the games I review
**The error happened because the bone that the dino throws is trying to move to an object that no longer exists if the player kills the dino while the bone is in the air. An easy fix would be to have the bone destroyed at the same time that the dino is destoyed.
