You are a tax collector. The family whose door you stand in front of have been dodging taxes for 18 years straight, and it's time to collect.

They're clever, but not above the power of the IRS. Ask them questions, determine the value of their property, and we will seize it at a later time to pay for the years of missed taxes.

Be careful. The more nosy you are, the more suspicious the owner will become. If he becomes too suspicious, this precious chance to collect will end.

Good Luck -Your Boss

Collect Taxes!

Navigate a large, branching dialogue to gather as much information as you can about the tax evader's valuables as you can! Be careful though, once you reach 100% suspicion he'll slam the door in your face!

Funny game! I included it in my GM48: Collect! compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/AJIXJbuzz8E

Nice game! I was hoping someone would make a game about tax collection xD

Really funny dialogue options, that go in some unexpected directions. And damn, some of those faces were amazing. When he's surprised about restless leg syndrome killing thousands, and when he's figured out you're a tax collector... So good!! They'd work perfectly as reaction emoji lol

Is it actually possible to end the conversations without "failing", either from the guy getting annoyed or him thinking you're a tax collector?

The thumbnail made me think I was going to be playing a kirby game.. anyways lol

The gameplay and controls were clear and simple, the music was entertaining and didn't get in the way at all, the sfx for the dialogue was good, the art, especially the emotive faces were a nice touch, and the dialogue was engaging and funny. I enjoyed almost every aspect of the game, though as others have said being able to gauge my score at the end would have been nice. Great work, a well executed unique take on the theme.

That was fun! I enjoyed the dialogue and the emotive faces. I just wish it went on for a little longer, or that there was some sort of feedback at the end to measure how well you did. I think that I got the highest value possible but nothing happened. Good entry!

I thought the dialog was pretty entertaining. On my best attempted I collected a little over 600,000 so I didn't get to see the end but well done

Ok so this was actually a clever take on the theme, and it was a cute and humorous game.

However, it essentially boiled down to clicking random choices because there was honestly no way to tell what the person might be thinking or what the results of your choices might be.

Perhaps adding a risk reward type balance of choices would make the game more fun, i.e. there could be some factor of randomness and you got to decide if it was worth telling a bigger lie for more taxes, vs. playing it safe and not raising as much suspicion. Maybe there could be a timer as well so that you must collect as many taxes as you can within a time limit?

Thank you for the feedback! This was a pretty big departure from the kinds of games we've made in previous jams so it was uncharted water for us. Writing the dialogue and the options was for sure the hardest part and took quite a while. I love your idea of the random risks, and wish that was something we did.

Thanks for playing, and I appreciate the feedback.
