A somewhat rushed survival-thriller? Scavenger is basically a glorified hidden item game with a menacing soundscape attached.

Instructions: Scavenger follows your mouse, Left Mouse button consumes items on the ground and restores your lifeforce. Right mouse makes you jump over most things. If you get stuck you might need to jump again but its pretty rare. As you get closer to dying you will get smaller! Some Artifacts are small and might be difficult to see if you run around at full speed the whole time.

Sorry if audio is too loud, really cut it close here..

Good luck!

Very interesting game. I included it in my GM48: Collect! compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/yIsOdyc3NkA

Fantastic atmosphere! It looks and sounds really good. Movement was a little odd, especially the way the scavenger would continue to speed up until colliding with something. Collecting artifacts was often quite fiddly, as the cursor would just highlight the scavenger instead of the thing >.<

I wish there was a bit more of a real ending, but really nice work nonetheless!

I think the sounds were at the right volume, nothing to worry about there! I also really liked the art style, it fit the atmosphere really well. I love me some pencil-sketch-looking animation in games. Maybe it was because of how the player moves to the mouse, but I had a hard time collecting the artifacts. My best run was 21/25, because I kept dying before I found the remaining 4... hehe. Nice work overall. There's always room for improvement, of course. Please keep making games in this style!

Interesting visuals, but the gameplay was really weird, with the collecting only when releasing LMB while hovering the object. It's made worse by the fact that you can hover yourself, which prevents you from consuming things. Also the void bug was pretty fun :D

Really nice atmosphere, nice job on the visual effects! Felt scary but super immersive.

I love how atmospheric this game is, I just wish i could collect the items by just touching it. Great job!

Very cool aesthetic but stability is definitely this game's weak point. Clicking stuff requires finicky cursor placement, moving in a direction where the player is close to that side of the screen is not super easy, and you tend to get stuck on most geometry.

The flavor text of the items you're collecting and the decision to go with full ambient sounds were interesting and cohesive choices, though!

This game seemed to be balanced very well. Items were a bit tricky to pick up at times though. Also I had the void bug on my first play but figured it was working as intended and I was being sucked away as I shrank down to nothing, which was a legitimate nightmare experience in itself, intended or not.

Close on first two tries, got it on the third.

Cool atmosphere and style. I'm a big fan of creepy stuff. Found picking up items to be a bit finicky. Also I clipped out of bounds a couple times and it killed me once. Never beat it but always got 1 item short.

    Nice work!

The atmosphere i very good. The movement is interesting, but ultimately a bit annoying, it was hard to be precise. Picking up items was also a bit difficult. Overall not much gameplay there except going around clicking on things. Could maybe become something cool if there were better controls and some more interesting mechanics. :)

I really like the sketchy art style and the and visual treatment - is that blurry effect a shader? I've always wanted to give them a go in GameMaker but I've always been intimidated by how complex they seem to implement! :|

The most fun I had was actually in building up speed and dodging the obstacles to move around the map quickly and preserving my momentum - it was also quite challenging to go slow and systematically around the map to explore and keep my bearings as the viewport was quite narrow it felt quite claustrophobic and disorienting - excellent survival horror attributes :D

Really interesting game, very immersive for me. I liked the artstyle too. The ball (character) feels very nice to move around. maybe my minds playing tricks on me, but it feels like it has realistic momentum, the bigger you are the more speed you pick up. if it does that's cool, if not, cool anyway that you made it feel that way. My only issue is that on my first play through the controls got messed up, and my character started moving opposite of the mouse, leading to them being flung into the void, and causing me to lose :(
