Round up the whole herd by barking, bashing, and chasing all your bouncy sheep into the pen! Watch out for rams!

Controls

  • Arrow keys or WASD to move around
  • X to dash
  • Z to bark
  • Esc to return to the main menu

Tips

  • Dash into sheep to send them flying. You can bounce them off walls to trick-shot them into the pen.
  • Scaring large groups of sheep will result in them bumping into each other and gaining speed. Some may fly into the pen.
  • Rams aren't afraid of you, and they'll charge at you when they bark. Get between them and the pen to have them charge in!

Have fun!

Fun little game! I included it in my GM48: Collect! compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/AJIXJbuzz8E

Man that was fun. It reminds me of QWOP in the sense that you sacrifice a bit of control for a bunch of random funny moments. Just line up a shot, bark a bit and just watch everything sorta go crazy, specially in crowded. Really can't find anything to criticize about the gameloop, it's unusual but super engaging, the visuals and sound complement that whacky vibe, my only gripe was that the whole game was controlled with the keyboard except the level select. Other than that 10/10 would herd again.

Thanks for the input! I like the QWOP comparison, I was definitely going for a chaotic vibe, at least.

I'm definitely gonna make sure my controls are consistent for future jams, too.

Cute, funny and most importantly, fun to play. I also found the game kind of... satisfactory? Especially the last level. Something as simple as spamming the dash in the crowded level and watching all the sheep bounce around was very fun.

My main feedback would be regarding the controls, the control of the shepherd dog felt a bit, loose. Not really sure how to describe it. But it's not necessarily something that detracted from the gameplay, just a detail that felt a bit strange.

Would love to play a version of this with more levels and twist :) Very well done!

Hm, I think I get what you mean about the controls. The dog needs to accelerate a little bit faster to be a bit more responsive to input, I think. Right now, when you bounce off a wall or something it takes a moment to accelerate back to the direction you were trying to move in.

I'm really glad you found chaotically dashing into clusters of sheep fun, that's my favourite part too! The madness where they uncontrollably ricochet off each other, haha.

Fun little sheep hearding game! My only real complaints are that menus are navigated with the mouse, and fullscreen is disallowed :(

Thanks! I'll remember to be more consistent with menu/game controls in the future. As for the lack of fullscreen, that's just because I straight up forgot about tweaking window settings at all during the entire time developing, haha!

I absolutely love the concept of "collecting" sheep.

The key controls were good enough for the simple ingame controls (three types of actions). It felt a little disconnected with the menu that only used the mouse though. This might just be nitpicking, but it felt odd that you had two options with movement in WASD and Arrow Keys, but no second set for the main action keys (Z and X).

This definitely feels like it could be one of those mobile games you whip out inbetween doing everyday things when you have a minute or two to spare.

Yeah, after submission time ended I realized I shoulda added N and M as buttons for your special moves too, to make WASD easier to use. Along with the menu, control consistency is definitely something I should be thinking about for the next jam!

This really is a fun game! I really liked the no-chill rams :D And the reward at the end was a nice touch.

    From what I noted:

    • Since we don't use the mouse in the game, we should be able to use the keyboard in the menu
    • The sound of sheep bumping into each other can glitch easily, maybe there should be a limit on how much can play at the same time
    • I think the first levels are a little too big. Since there's not a lot of sheep, it feels like we don't really make progress

And since you mentioned it, mouth sounds for the animals would have elevated this game to the top 3 for sure :D

You're right. It should have a more consistent control scheme between the menu and the game. That menu was basically my debugger screen during development, then I slapped graphics on top, lol.

Noted about the sound stacking, I'll make sure to limit the amount of sound instances that can be played at once in the future to prevent the volume from going overboard!

The audio clipped and made me deaf, beat all the levels, and unlocked ***** mode. 10/10.

The game takes a fun spin on the genre of pool games and encapsulates the theme neatly. The art was satisfactory and indicated well what was going on. This, together with the sound design and catchy (slightly too short) music makes the game play fun and engaging. I found the controls to be a bit too floaty and often times found myself mashing buttons instead of making calculated decisions. It's clear the chaos is intentional to some extent, but infuriates more than upping the challenge. It has a good length and I wasn't surprised to find both Easter eggs and a functional loading mechanic. I also enjoyed the bundled up sound effects though it did occasionally get louder than desirable.

I keep finding new things to mention, but the variety of things to herd was a good addition.

Thanks! You’re right, I wanted chaos, but I wasn’t really intentionally going for rage-inducing chaos, it just turned out that way when bouncing gets out of control. I’ll also take the music concern into consideration, and be sure to have longer and less repetitive loop in the future.

Yamper used Snarl! It's not very effective on Wooloo...

This was a really fun little sheep herding game 😄 Super simple but well executed, and completely infuriating in later stages when you accidentally made the last eight sheep scatter uncontrollably with a misplaced little woof. But good fun, nice work!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the silliness of it. I was even planning on adding dumb little "BAAAA" sounds when the sheep bounce around uncontrollably but I felt like I was wasting a lot of time yelling into a microphone, haha.

Neat but extremely simple. Feels like a complete little package that doesn't do more or less than it needs to. Art isn't perfect but it's cohesive. Beepbox music is never fantastic so not a huge fan of that.

    Good work!

Thanks. The art and sound are definitely a low point, had to make big compromises since I was alone and the jam took place during work days, heh. I'll keep the beepbox comment in mind and maybe look into other free programs for making music in the future.

Probably the game that held my attention the longest. Simple and surprisingly fun. Artwork was pretty silly and fit the tone of the game really well. Overall, I'm a fan. The secret at the end was nice touch as well. Overall good entry!

    A few things:

    • Sound was a little loud, but I know it's hard to tune that right, especially with the time constraints.
    • Would have been cool to see a couple more levels and gameplay interactions.

Yeah, I think general consensus is that the game is short and needs more levels. I definitely agree, some different wall layout varieties and maybe another animal type woulda done it good. I'm glad you liked the secret!

Fun game! And a really unique take on the theme. I enjoyed the bonus feature, no spoilers! haha

I wonder if you tried or thought about giving the pup a health bar, that way barking around the rams would be a little more dangerous?

The ram level was actually easier than the sheep (of course that's only with the tip you gave!)

No complaints with the art, music and sound.

If anything, it could have been a tad bit longer and maybe had one or two more mechanics. Otherwise it's a pretty solid entry!

PS. I recorded a youtube video of me playing your game. Enjoy!

Thanks, I'm really glad you liked it! I think if I had done some more polish work I would have made it so that the rams could stun you in place and stop you from moving for a bit. The focus is supposed to be about getting the best time so I don't think that a health bar's needed, just some kind of time penalty. And I agree, could have done with adding more levels. Thanks for the input.

I think next time I might not go solo, since I'm super slow at making art and sounds. Or maybe I should just practice pixel art for a bit. Judging from most feedback, the art and sounds are the points I need to work on the most, and I'm glad to have learned that.

This is a lot of fun, albeit a bit short. I would love to see this expanded with more levels, a timer that tracks your time against all levels and a brush up on the artwork. But still, the secret at the end was a nice touch and a tutorial to show me what I'm doing is always welcome, even if I've realised I'd be a terrible sheep-dog since I mostly just pinball-ed them in to the pen! But I had fun, and that's what matters! :)

I'm very happy you found it fun! I was afraid of making a game that overstayed its welcome but I can definitely see that I undershot the length. I'll have to keep the amount of content and levels in mind for the next jam.

You're right, sound was what I spent the least time on, and all of it could use some touching up. I'd planned to do some vocal sounds for the dog and the sheep but I felt like I was wasting time just making random noises into a microphone until something sounded good, heh.

Good overall entry. Mechanics were cool, level and difficult progression was good, graphics fitting. Sound was ok. But implement keyboard control in the menu ;)

Making a game solo means making many compromises on your time. You need to choose to focus on coding, art, sound and design, and all of these things take time. In the future I need to divvy time towards each more evenly to get a less lopsided result.

I've also learned to work on my consistency in presentation. Things like making the menu use the same control scheme as the game itself, better pacing, and intuitiveness of controls.

That being said, this entry did shine in letting me embrace chaos a bit, as the game is at its most fun when things are a bit chaotically out of control bouncing everywhere. Sometimes you do need to let a game evolve naturally instead of rigidly planning the entire experience!
