Shoot yourself at the enemy spacecraft and use your laser sword to cut through the hull to free your cat! It's a Space Cat Rescue!

Line up your shot, launch yourself out of your spacecraft, and slash as fast as you can in order to break through the hull of the ship holding your cat prisoner. Once your cat is free, launch yourself once again in order to pick him up! This game includes authentic, real cat meows recorded from my very own cat!

Controls

  • Left/Right Arrow Keys - Move ship left/right
  • Spacebar - Launch from ship
  • Spacebar (press repeatedly!) - Swing your laser sword
  • Enter - Advance through text

Cute little game! I included it in my compilation video series of all of the games from the GM48, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/ZzdTZAUuWWs

Fun game, I wish there was a better level design. I have beaten it using the same movement. I know the timeframe is short, and I think it was a good entry. I really enjoyed the concept. Good work!

The concept seemed neat and I was looking forward to seeing how it evolved. Unfortunately the game ended before anything interesting was done with it. I really feel like there could be a fun game here if there was more to it. Maybe switches to hit, or enemies to dodge and fight, or multiple cats to rescue... Just something.

As it is, it's still kind of fun. Slashing away the blocks feel nice. I did have to move a bit to catch the cat as it was floating away on the last level. The sounds are all effective and the simple visual style looks pretty good. It just feels like it could be so much more.

Short but at least it does the trick. Too bad the "level design" is a bit useless since all you do is press space

The game could have used enemies or coins or some sort of secondary objective. Theres so reason to smash any other part of the building except to get your cat. Also there is not reason to use the arrow keys. Maybe if there were guards you had to tak out in other parts f the ship before getting Biggie would help implement the other mechanics in the game. Just an example.

    I liked the camera work!

Really short game, the gameplay idea was alright, but you went nowhere with it, every level was just "spam space and you win", could've at least made the player adjust his ship.

Still, it was alright, and I liked the sound effects, too bad for the boring gameplay.

The concept looked interesting but you only had to shoot directly at the cat and spam the sword, there was no variation to it.

Pretty good idea, but the game lacks something to make it more interesting, at least some other moving parts.

Is that your cat? He/she is gourgeous ^^
Ok, about the game. I think the theme was a bit forced on this one, since you shoot yourself multiple times and all....
I liked the layout of the spaceships :) but the cat could be in random places or something, there wasn't much challenge involved. Also, he seemed safe, I'm glad no cats were harmed during this.

Yes, that's my cat in the banner and in the audio. Thanks for noticing! It was a challenge to record him meowing since he didn't want to make any noise next to the microphone.

I liked the slashing through the blocks that make up the enemy ship. Really good sound effects too. Maybe more levels, or some power-ups/obstacles would add some depth to the gameplay. Also, more cat pictures!
