The call is from SCIENCE! Will you accept the charges?

You only have one piece of ammunition, and unfortunately, that ammunition is, well, you. Use it wisely, use it well.

Very nice concept! I included it in my compilation video series of all of the games from the GM48, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/hQAzb_hhkk0

I like the idea and it seems to control pretty well. Unfortunately the actual levels aren't that enjoyable. I could only get as far as the third (I think) one. It's annoying how so many of the places you need to warp to are offscreen. It makes it way too hard to figure out what to do when you don't even know where anything is.

Anyway, the character sprites look nice but everything else is a bit bland. The sound effects mostly work well. I like how the charging sound changes as you charge the gun. The dialogue is okay but I feel like it was trying too hard to be funny.

Thanks for playing and the detailed feedback!

Yeah, unfortunately I spent too much of the time available trying to get the projectile motion feeling good, which never actually happened, so things like level design, music and dialogue all got put together in the last two hours of the jam, and everything but the character sprites stayed as basically just programmer art. I personally like the basic idea of it, so I've been working on it some more here and there. Getting the collisions to work well is something of a nightmare, and the basic code I used initially really doesn't cut it.

I liked the effects especially the player teleportation and ghost figure which was left behind. The charge up bar for the gun was nice too. I think with more level art and a better path indicator the game would be pretty sweet. Nice work!

      Thanks a lot!

Yeah, it has a lot of issues, but I like the overall concept as well. Actually, those 'ghosts' were supposed to be statues, I just forgot to make them a child of the solid object. I've been doing a bit of work on it since, greatly improved the physics for the projectile, added a tracer to show where it will go, improved the collisions etc. Although I just broke something yesterday so that it always shoots at a 45 degree angle, something in the collision code I think.

Anyway, thanks for playing and the feedback!

Cool idea! I loved the writing! I couldn't get past the third level i think it was. It was hard to see exactly where i was shooting so it was a lot of trial an error. It would've been nice maybe if the camera followed your cursor to kinda give the player idea of where the orb thing would land.

It was a really nice use of theme! Nice job!

Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback!

If you could pass the third level I'd be surprised, as I finished making it just before the end of the jam with no time to test and I'm about 95% sure it's impossible to complete. I've been working on it some more since the jam finished, fixed that level, added in some guides to show how the shit will fire, changed the physics for the projectile etc., and I like the idea of the camera following the cursor while the left mouse is held - cheers!

This game started out really nice, I liked the writing, the premise, and the idea the gameplay was using, but then everything just kind of... fell apart, which is unfortunate, because I see the potential your awesome writing had, but I couldn't see the story through the end, for all the bugs and frustrating physics that were blocking my path.

The levels are borderline impossible, when your shots don't count if they don't connect after a set amount of time, even if they stay on screen for the whole lenght of that time, the collisions are kinda bad, both those of the player and those of the bullet, the gun sound got REALLY annoying after a while, add some pitch variation and lower the sound a good deal.

But yeah again, the game wasn't too bad, and I have to say again, I really liked your writing style.

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback! I agree with all of those points, I've been doing a bit of work on it this week, including changes to the firing code, adding in a guideline for the shot path, and fixes to collisions. I realised after starting that although I've done some platformer projects before, I'd never done anything with directed shooting, so this was very much a learning project. I'll do something with the sounds as well, I haven't really tried anything but the absolute basics with sound functions yet, so maybe now is the time.

Yeah, I think actually the 3rd level is literally impossible to complete. If it makes you feel any better, there was only one more scripted sequence to end the game abruptly after that, so you didn't miss too much. I basically wasted hours on trying to make the projectile work better, so the level design was very much rushed.

Thanks again for the kind words on the writing!

Very nice idea. I didn't really get why I would ever shot below max strength, since the ball will disappear after a short while if it's falling :(

Also I didn't understand how to get past the stairs, as I need to use the teleportation to get past the gap before

Thanks for playing! Actually yeah, it doesn't make much sense, does it? I've been working on it a bit this week, changing the code behind the firing system and also added in a guide to show where the shot will head towards.

It's likely that the third level is impossible to finish. I put that one together in a few minutes just before the end of the jam, sorry about that.

It haves a joke about flat earth belivers it was funny, the game haves really imprecise, a parable indicating the path the balls are gonna take would help a lot

Thanks for playing and leaving feedback! I totally agree, it was my first time trying to make a game using trajectories like that, and I spent hours that went nowhere, so I just went for a simple solution that is very imprecise, and same with the spawning; all quick fixes to get done in time. Glad you liked the humor!
